Part 3: • Quentin Miller on Writ...
--------
In this clip, Quentin Miller talked in depth about the Drake ghostwriting situation and how he ended up working with him. Quentin detailed working with Drake in the studio, specifically for the track “No Tellin” which he said was a moment that felt as if he were just recording in the studio with friends. So much so, Quentin thought he was part of the OVO team, but later found out that wasn’t necessarily the case.

In 2015 that’s when I said drake was the best rapper now an took the spot had no clue the flow came from this man when 10 bands came out I was 19 I said this is drake I said I knew he was good but not this good I never heard a flow like that Quentin is very creative then drake adds this smooth melody he said I been in the crib with the phones off I done hit a stride got my shit going that simple melody made that song even more better this is what makes drake so special his ability to structure songs yes he stole that man flow but when drake did that flow it sound 1200 times better than Quentin doing it it’s sad but the truth

@@Ontiming2023After listening to the reference tracks it’s fair to say Drake didn’t actually steal anything, Drake put his own verses in and also flipped some of Quentin’s ones. Apart from the hook or bridges Drake did his own verses. However what separates them is that Drake’s flow, cadence, voice and just the way he rides a song is elite and like you said how he structures a song aswell. I feel Drake should of kept Quentin close to him.
@Setogayamari

@@Richnigg840yeah ive heard some of the tracks to, honestly not understanding the whole "drake stealing" thing. Quentin seems to prove the experience was very back and fourth, as well as a very COLLABORATIVE process. People had me thinking Drake was stealing stuff disrespectfully and using plagiarism. Just sounds like he felt he didn't need Quentin anymore, seems like Quentin thought this was some friendship but it was very clearly all business. Quentin seems to have incredible amounts of talent and doesn't get enough attention, but it seems drake learned what he needed and moved on. Drake also addressed this in an interview and spoke very respectfully about the situation Unless im missing something, im not seeing the hate
@Richnigg840

@@Setogayamari You’re right. However I will say the reference track for Legend by PND Drake did use a lot from it I guess he couldn’t be bothered for that one. Quentin said that Drake told him without his contribution the album wouldn’t of happened and Q does seem like a very nice guy problem is I’ve heard is music I mean it just wasn’t for me, that’s the area I praise Drake in, his ability to make sound good. Still feel Drake should of kept him close but I guess after what happened he couldn’t anymore.

Any real hip hop head and Drake fan would say IYRTITL is his best album or mixtape along with NWTS. In my opinion, IYRTITL is better. But to know his best work, Drake needed help on the best tracks. It is a bit of a shame to know he didn't fully write the lyrics, especially on 10 bands and know yourself, even star67 he had help with Amir obeid, who is another artist.

I felt if you’re reading this was his weakest album.

Take care, so far gone and nwts and a crazy feat run (stay scheming verse in my top 10 for him) was already out years before IYRTITL. By the time that tape dropped drake already had his sound down. This tape just sounded like an extension of what he was already doing. It was by no means a break through or a revolution in his sound just a really good tape. I think people overstate QMs importance to try to knock drake but he was the same artist before and after QM. The only thing that really changed over the last 7/8 years was the listener.

He has never wrote his own shit he takes all the great lyrics of every legendary song to make a guaranteed hit how can you fail when the lyrics that you are using are already certified platinum millions of albums sold lyrics. Like how does anybody fuck with that how is that commendable?! I just realized earlier today that even if the person has no morals and is toxic for society people will still support it if it’s fire. It’s too hard for everyone to realize that the art craft is stolen and not original tho so the masses end up rocking with it unfortunately not knowing how stupid that shit is.

The fact that meek nem ran up on him, just for meek and drake to be cool a few years later. They both owe him an apology.

@@boo1488 Drake owed does owe him an apology. Their business went wrong because someone in Drake's circle gave up information that was supposed to be confidential. Ruined their whole agreement. It's not Drake's fault directly, but just out of professionalism and gratitude, an apology would be honorable .

@realism1012he always said he collaborated. He gave an idea that drake used and tweaked. He said he watched drake write 6pm in New York by himself in the studio. Drake was experimenting with different sounds. How would he have said he didn’t help on Rico when the references are online??

I've heard this story a few times now and I'm not saying it didn't happen because I have heard many stories that have been shady in the music business. That's why it's a business and that's why I personally quit pursuing my music. But something doesn't add up here. And I'm not sure what it is. 🤔

I place if your reading this is too late in top 3 drake albums of all time. Dope Concept, would have been dope to see it as a mixtape but bird man wasn't haven it. Wish drake would go back to this concept one more time.

You can say whatever you want but Cihy has been writing for Kanye a lot and you dont feel this pain in his voice. He's super appreciative..so it makes you know that Kanye has been treating him well. Whereas it doesnt sound the same from Q Miller
