The Washington Capitals will have two players representing the team at this year's IIHF World Championships in May. Defenseman Martin Fehervary will be suiting up for Team Slovakia, bringing his solid two-way game to the international stage. Fehervary emerged as a reliable presence on the Capitals' blue line this season, using his speed and hockey IQ to shut down opponents' top scorers. Now he'll aim to do the same against elite talent at the Worlds. Meanwhile, forward Ryan Leonard will join Team USA's star-studded roster. Leonard, who won gold at the World Juniors earlier this year, is coming off a record-breaking sophomore season at Boston College where he tallied an astounding 41 points in just as many games. Leonard's invitation to Team USA speaks volumes about his maturity and high ceiling as a prospect. While other Capitals like Charlie Lindgren and Dylan Strome declined invites to focus on offseason training, Fehervary and Leonard are eager to gain more high-level experience. Considering the Capitals' early playoff exit, representing their countries will provide much-needed competition. It's a great chance for Fehervary and Leonard to develop further against elite international talent. If they can translate that experience back to the Capitals, it may give the team a boost toward greater success next season. Overall, Capitals fans should be excited to see these two youngsters test themselves on the global stage.

until leonard arrives i say keep max pacioretty, one full season now he may be recovered .as a side note why is Ehan Frank not an option?

Darcy was a good goalie, but the past 2 seasons all he has done is continue to be on a decline in his game and his stats show that. However do to his contract I have a feeling we will be stuck with him for a bit longer, all we can do is hope that he can show that he actually did work on and improve his game.

I heard Marner was on the market, while unlikely imagine Chucky, a first, and some prospects or something for him. That would be an interesting trade, though unlikely, I reckon we do have more cap space this season. Stranger things have happened.

This is the kind of trade from a Caps perspective that makes sense. I don't know if Toronto is looking for a change in net or not, but getting eliminated early again has to hurt.

@@XaviRonaldo0 ooh, Leonard for Marner is a lose for us no matter how you view it. Although I do see that sort of scenario taking place if we even attempt to trade for him. I’m interested to see what GmBm is planning on doing this off-season.

@@sdgakatbk From our perspective it’s almost exactly what we’re looking for, a young top 6 talent. If I were Toronto’s GM I would seek a better goaltender(chucky or Darcy) Sam and Woll won’t you a cup, and a defensive core(maybe AA or Mrath), but I’m a fan giving his perspective so who knows lol. I just hope GmBm helps this team out instead of another Max and Edmonsun type of off-season🤞 can’t wait for our season to get back going!

@@d9j2 I fully believe RL will be a superstar. He has the mentality and all the tools. I really don't think it's worth giving up the farm for a 27yo winger who underperforms in the playoffs. Especially when this team has so many holes

Max P is going to be 36 in November. He was a good part-time rental. Let's get someone younger. Darcy Kemper is 34. Since coming to the Caps, his numbers have declined. 2021-2022 Avs GA 2.54 SPCT 9.21. 2022-2023 Caps GA 2.85 SPCT 9.09. 2023-2024 Caps GA 3.31 SPCT .890. If the Caps need to investing time to improve goaltending, let's go younger. Plus there will be alot of demand for goaltending this off season. I believe the Capitals could get a good deal. Also if we are not going to give Charlie or Hunter a shot at becoming the starter than why did we sign them. I don't have high expectations for the Caps next season. We should see what's available in free agencies that will help the team. There are many gaps to fill.

im afraid i see lindgren being traded banking on darcy recovering which he probably will, he had a bad defense/bounces in front of him as caps learned to play boring hockey, lindgren steps in just as caps get it together defensively and he played great, chuck should have been the starter but we have great goaltending in the pipeline and because kemps contract will stop any trade he can mentor while being his consistant self.i see a marner to caps trade based on history of treeliving and brian mac ,they trade together quite often even when treeliving was in calgary. lindgren and sandine(returns to toronto) for marner. got to love lindgren though i will hate to see him go.
