26:45 One of the few gifts of being bullied by one's peers is that it tends to make it easier to reject the status quo and values that are forced upon you. Not feeling a sense of belonging can lead to asking very important questions. I think I'm closer to humility that most people simply by virtue of being so deliberately excluded from the social world.

That's what religion does! It brings a sense of belonging no matter how flawed it maybe. It will still be perfect to you as it becomes you as a culture and identity, yet also blinds you to the reality of evidence and research esp. if it doesn't fit with your chosen, born into religion.

@@techknow9237 have you done any meditation or followed any religious path to the end or anyone making same claims as you? Guru Angad Dev Jo, Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, Jesus, etc. are amongst many who prove through their lives that there is a higher measure of living thT we can aim for.

@@mariabrar6290 Isn't it strange that everyone thinks that they all have the right religion because they are born into it! I was Sikh but am not now practicing. For me personally I didn't find much in meditation but a science reality is that sleep is the best form of meditation. Meditation was also from Santana Dharma not Sikhism. As for Jesus! What is your proof that he existed other then the Bible and the ideology factory that is Christianity - which has many flaws! Also if you accept Jesus existed. Do you except Muhammad existed ? Do you believe Noahs Ark existed ? Do you believe in the Devil exists ? Do you then believe we all came from Adam & Eve ? Do you believe in Hell and Heaven exists ? Do you believe the Earth was made in 7 days ? ...etc...etc. ..Do you agree to all that ? Because Christians and Jesus do! Science adjusts it's views based on what's observed. Faith is in denial of obversation so belief can be preserved.

As a person born into a family of white American nominal Christians I don't have a lot of the comfort and familiarity with Sikhi that I think a lot of people born into Sikh families take for granted. It's unlikely I'll ever be able to read or speak Gurmukhi. I'm afraid it's going to keep me away from becoming Amritdhari, but I hope to be born into a Sikh family next go round so I can get it right.

If you want you can start learning gurmukhi on KZfaq. There are many channel. Try Sikh ways of living a life. Try a day without ego Another day without anger Another without greed Another without lust Another without having attachment And then a day without these all. Keep the name of God on your tongue everyday. You will find it will keep you away from doing or thinking negative things. It will really change you. I know I was a very short tempered boy, I always fought with my brother very often. You know brother brother fights. When I really discovered I am a sikh, I should know what is sikhism. And I started following the ways of living as a sikh. You know it improved me very much. Now my mind barely has any negative thoughts. And always laugh and deal with my brother instead of being angry. My brother also becomes calm when I laugh and then I deal with him. Gurbani really changed me. It was about my life, I told you what I experienced. Thank you. (Sorry for bad English) Waheguru ji.

Amazing video, thank you. I have a thought experiment that I love to practice. G-L=1 Take whatever you think of as (God) and remove the limits I've unknowingly attached starting with the word God. No matter how you run it, it will always boil down to 1. I'm not a Sikh nor will I join any religion but I know the words are true.

Teacher, I am an American man who have studied philosophy and religion for years, alongside practice of meditation. I wandered the country seeking knowledge as a hippy, the closest to asceticism I could find in modern capitalism.. I realized by the Grace of God that this wouldn't lead to enlightenment, I would just starve. So I have returned to the household life, and am firmly deciding that I want to live a Good life and a become close to God. And I have decided that, as I see it, sikhi makes the most sense and feels the most Harmonious to my soul. So I have a question I was gifted a piece a cloth by another American friend who considers himself a sikh by practice and wears a turban But I noticed that how he ties his, even tho it is tight and neat, is very different that the "traditional" way that Sikhs tie theirs and I was wondering if there was a scriptural reference to how I should tie the turban or if you could give me some insight. I feel like sihki is in the heart, but I want to express my belief. When I wore it, I felt humbled and conscious of God. Please consider my question and be easy on me and my ignorance

Please rem8nd this generation of Sikhs that hinduism is not a seperable part of Sikhism ....I hope present generation is aware of amazing sikh history and greatness of gurus who gave supreme sacrifice.Also how in history hindus and sikhs have been helping each other 🙏🙏🙏

huh, i think i might also get this blurry vibrating space you describe after mediation. It is right in the focus of my vision, it's like a ball pit or transparent balls which are like boiling water and it's size is about a 5p coin at arms length, it eventually goes away.

Naam Simran is the strongest form of meditation known as a type of "transcendental meditation". If done long enough, when you close your eyes while sitting or laying down, you see colours , geometrical patterns, lights and at total peace....doing this on a regular basis creates a baseline peaceful state of mind (a less reactive mind) for the most part....getting to those point is blissful and referred to as "Anand". ....it is true Anand. Look up "dasam duar" aka 10th door of meditation. I cannot believe how much this practice has been ignored and that Sikhism has been made by people as just a ritual type organization thing and not much more. I wish the real practice was encouraged when i was a kid.....but some do say, you have to hit rock bottom to find the practice.

Bhai sahib, you are contradicting basic premise of sikhism which says that this life is most important thing and all our gurus ever did was to help improve people's lives either by dissociating them from your kind of philosophy and bringing them into real world and also by fighting against societal and political injustice

Yeahhh everyone want to say that we must go beyond mind. The same we can find in any fideistic attitude towards faith in any monotheistic religion. There were many fideistic fanatics who saw only their own religion, just like this Sikh guy, like Sayyid Qutb in Salafi Sunnism, like Tertullian or Calvin in Christianity and so on. There is no such thing like spirituality or religion - it is all just pure imagination, fiction, abstraction

When we we Sikhs become brave enough to declare the truth that our Gurughar or home is not Indian Punjab, because we belong to Lahore in Pakistan the kingdom of Maharaja Ranjit Singh who was our forefather the lion of Punjab. Nankana is the birthplace of Guru Nanak. That is why we wanted Kartarpur Corridor to reach our home in Lahore. To seek a separate state in Indian Punjab is to look for fish in urine. Yes, use India to the fullest for India is good for getting cheap education & farmland money for us to move abroad. Our homeland is calling us...come of brave brothers let us move back home to Lahore, Pakistan. Forget India. Lets go OUR REAL, HISTORICAL, GURU-GRANTED HOME: LAHORE, PAKISTAN. RAJ KAREGA KHALSA. Brave Sikh brothers, let us never forget that the real home of Sikhs granted by our Guru and the capital of sher-e punjab is Lahore and not India. Indian punjab belongs to Punjabi, Bihari and all Indians.
