At the beginning of the seventh century, in the Arabian Peninsula, a new monotheistic religion appeared: Islam. His prophet, Muhammad, managed to convert the populations little by little, but came up against an aristocracy that rejected him. He succeeded, after an exile, in imposing the new faith on the peninsula. 50 years later, Islam extends from Tripolitania to the borders of present-day Iran. Two huge empires bowed to the Arab conquerors. How was this lightning expansion possible?
