Quest of Yore from the OP is a Tabletop Role Playing Game based on the movie Onward from Pixar. Unlike a normal board game, RPGs are narrative based games that take place in your imagination. There are no board, no action cards, no set options - and there's one very important role to fill - and that's the role of Quest Master. If you're playing with your family, then a parent will probably be the one to fill that role, and if you're anything like me, you're probably going to be very intimidated by that role if it's your first time playing an RPG, and being a QM/DM. Don't Worry! In this video I'm going to tell you everything you need to know to be a quest master in Quests of Yore and take your family on an amazing adventure!
This game was my very first experience ever playing a role playing game, and being a quest master/dungeon master. If I can do this, so can you! Quests of Yore has been such an incredible experience for our family and I want other families to share that same experience!

Great video! I've never played an RPG but my kids love Onward and I'm excited to give this a shot

Thank you so much for this. I did a lot of looking, and honestly, there's not a lot of good data out there for this. As someone who played DnD for decades, the combat throws me off. Like, if I shoot a bow, there's a chance that if I roll just what I need, the bad guy and I still both take damage, but then can both mitigate the damage? Some parts of that I could use a walk-through on, because from what videos I've found, and what's in the guidebooks, it seems like there are several interpretations. My kid loves it, but some of the mechanics took me a bit to wrap my head around, even though they're not super complicated.

I noticed the dragon species isn't mentioned in the rulebook, even though it comes with a miniature

That’s the bad guy. You can’t be a dragon but the dragon comes into play later in the story.

So, I just got my coffee and I'm learning the rules. I'm having trouble understanding the use of items such as the sword when making an attack. You only get two moves a turn but if you use the sword to attack that is both actions?

I think the idea is that using a card is one of the two actions you can do right? So attacking without a sword is one action, using the sword is the second action. Like using a potion would be one of the two actions you can do in a turn.

What does the lightning bolt ⚡️ symbol on the cards mean?

It's called Flash and means that you can use the card during another players turn in a trial

What do you think the replay ability of this game is? Can you go through it again and again?

Technically yes - you could go through it again, but your players are going to know what's coming. You may have to throw in some of your own flavor and side quests if you do that. You could make new characters so you're trying out different cards and abilities and stuff like that, but at the end of the day, even if you know what's coming you're still at the will of the dice. I'm hoping they'll release more quest books in the future, I know they wanted to see what the response was to this one to determine if there was a market for more.
