Darren Jinks, Wig Master from the LA opera, shows how to make a cowboy with some quick and easy steps on how to apply dirt and blood using Ben Nye Products. It's a perfect tutorial for anyone wanting to bloody up their costume and maybe get down and dirty with their existing design.
Darren has already put on a few prosthetics on the models lip and eyebrow beforehand from Brian Sipes "Got Flesh?" line. He then uses all Ben Nye makeup to complete his look. He leaves the final makeup up to the artist in how far they would like to take these techniques.

Ben Nye was a contemporary of Edith Head. Edith head was from my hometown of San Bernardino, CA which is probably one of the reasons I look for her name in the credits of movies. She did Shane and Who Shot Liberty Valance I believe. As a matter of fact the character in the animated movie The Incredibles who does the superhero outfits is styled after Edith Head. There's a couple of short documentaries about Edith Head online but I can't find one for Ben Nye who I think is second only to Lon Chaney when it comes to makeup. I don't know. That's why I wish there was some kind of documentary about him.

Almost forgot. I get a kick out of seeing both Ben Nye and Edith Head credited in the same movies.

I take issue with the "sunburn" logic. As a fella that actually wears wide brimmed western hats, sunburn doesn't happen often when wearing one.

Another thing is, why not just go get actual dirt and put it on your face instead of buying a bunch of simulated products 😂😂

Somewhat but they’re still out in the sun constant without hats as well. And if you’re an actor- having a pale upper face wouldn’t translate for an audience as they aren’t thinking of that.

+BenNyeMakeup I love the final seal but I really wish you would not add mint fragrance to it . That is the #1 complaint I get from clients when using it on them.
