Thank you for letting us know about the Adobe Add-ons and how they work. I have always used my own texture shots and have never even researched the Adobe collections, but will give these a try. Your images are so deep and full-bodied with this effect.

I have had the Fly Paper textures for a few years now. Amazing what they can do to your photos. Simple and very effective

Thank you so much for that. One thing us beginners have a problem with is that we don't know what stuff is called. So when we want something in particular we are stuffed. You took a problem of mine and turned it into a new community. I can now execute everything I've been seeing in my head and lay it out in printable form. You mighta heard me sigh...lol I didn't know about addons or that it's been sitting beside me as I work for the past 2 years. guna lock you in my youtube closet now.

There's a ton of recent tutorials for this paper texture add on which is great, but if you have CC 2015 the installs won't work unless you know the trick and no one tells you! I spent hours Googling and re-downloading and it was so frustrating. I finally found the the fix but it was a few months ago so I'll try to remember it here... Go to your Adobe CC Application manager. From the widget pulldown select Preferences, Creative Cloud tab and then files. Turn Sync ON. I think it is off by default which prevents PS from reading add ons. Once turned On the texture add on worked for me. Hope that helps.

Great tutorial. I definitely learned something new. I need help the the new select and mask and refine hair button. When I use it I get a weird selection. Why is this happening? thanks

Cheers Daniel. Yeah select and mask can give some unexpected results depending on the image. On some it works great but on others no so, so sounds like a different approach would work best.

Is there a limit to how dark or light the grey background should be? Also when you say flat grey I assume that doesn't mean the lighting has to be flat and a gradient would be ok to work from. Great video

I think soft selection is better, please notice when you applied pre made mask - they look like pasted it. That's the reason I still can't find good balance in this method on my photos.

Hi Glyn, just started looking at textures for my photo's and found your vlog, which was very interesting. I used your limk for the download but, like many others, I'm struggling to download it - I'm subscribed to Adobe CC so I presume it shouldn't be a problem but the Adobe Exchange tells me that the file is 'Acquired' but that's as far as it goes - am I missing something?

I use grey to so that textures can be added in Photoshop using a blend mode that retain shadow and lighting; white background wouldn't do this 👍

Glyn, Great video really enjoyed it. We didn't know about the textures and other things that can be downloaded. We managed to download the fly paper textures to the desktop but they are not showing in photoshop. Do you have any suggestions?

Yes, we have photoshop CC 2017 If you go on file, open in Photoshop you can open the files from the creative file folder and copy it over but it does not show in windows dropdown like you showed on your video

Ok so the flypaper texture does also show on the desktop...I delete this but. You should also see it in Photoshop if you go to the Window > Extensions menu. Let me know how you get on ;)

Tried it back on the desktop still doesn't show in extensions. Hubby read about putting it in creative folder and you tick in settings to sync. It then comes up in desktop app and it shows under files but still not in the window>/extensions window.

Since my last reply, I've gone back to the Adobe add on page again and it does say to use from the desktop folder.I'm presuming that the producer of this add on must have changed it.Looking at the reviews, there seems to have been a problem installing from 2015 onwards.

Glynn question for you. I tried to access the textures via CC but it states that i need Dreamweaver. Did you encounter this issue and if so would you know of a work around? I know your not PS support but they take 10 forevers to get help. Thanks

OK so i made a call to Adobe. 3 hours later we are now in the process of uninstalling all Adobe products on my laptop and re-installing. Regardless of what the tech did, we could not get the extension manager to work. Although if one has CC all you have to do is ensure Files can be synched. Then the files will download to desktop. However, little blue ICON is a no go. Which is why he is going this route. This functionality should be enabled for subscribers. I just wanted to provide an update. Frank

Don't know why you're having problems there Antonella; this works great in 2022...I use it all the time and did this past week on a recent Veteran Portrait that I shared in the KZfaq Community
