This is a quick and easy cane that is perfect for beginners and experienced clayers alike. I show you how to make it either using a pasta machine, or without one. So, sit back, relax, and watch as the process unfolds, then have some fun and make your own.
The music from the video is English Country Garden by Aaron Kenny and is available from the KZfaq Free Audio Library.
If you like my work, then please do have a look at my website, www.fionaabel-smith.co.uk/ and follow me on Facebook / fiona.abelsmith and Instagram. / fionaabelsmith.artist
I also have a number of Polymer Clay PDF Tutorials to buy in my Etsy shop, PolyOriginals - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PolyOrig... and as a video tutorial here - polyoriginals.thinkific.com/co...

I used FIMO Soft Polymer Clay, but all well-known brands of polymer clay will work well for this project.
Polymer Clay is oven baked, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the brand of clay you are using.
Other equipment you need is:
A polymer Clay Blade
Craft Knife
Small roller
4mm Cable Needle - or something similar
A Tile or similar to work on, and Biodegradable wet wipes, or wet cloths to clean your hands as you work
Optional - Pasta machine dedicated to polymer clay use (if you have one).
If you do not have a pasta machine, you can roll the clay between two even stacks of playing cards to get an even thickness in your sheet of clay. Settings 8 and 9 on my machine are 1 playing card thickness, setting 7 and 6 are 2 cards thick, setting 5 is 3 cards, setting 4, 4 cards, setting 3 is 5 cards, setting 2 is 6 cards, setting 1 is 7 cards and setting 0 is 8 cards thickness.
Here are a few suggestions of other videos I have done, where you can use this petal cane to make:

Petal Bowls - • Sweet Little Flower Bo...
Raised Flower Pendant - • Raised Flower Pendant ...
But have a look through my other videos too, as this cane can be used for many other options too.
Thank you so much for watching.

I love this tutorial! Thank you so much, ive used it as 1 large flower with 6 petals and inserted a yellow spot in the centre. And i like the fact that you made a pasta machine free version.

Always enjoy your videos. These are beautiful flower canes. Can't wait to try. Love that you've shown how to make with and without a pasta machine. The manner in which you made the cane without a pasta machine is brilliant.

Thanks so much Christine, I have already done some for tiles, both as a free KZfaq one for tiled look jewellery, and as a doll's House one on Etsy. Both can be adapted for whatever size tile you like 😉🙂

After watching many of your kaleidoscope tutorials, I find myself wondering if you have ever made any of them with translucent clay mixed in. It occurs to me that they would make beautiful sun-catchers. I recently bought a 1 pound block of Cernit translucent and really want to try doing a kaleidoscope cane with it. I would think they would make beautiful earrings also, where the light can pass through them. This tutorial would be a nice simple one to try it out. Maybe this will be my project for the day. Thank you for your many wonderful tutorials. I am such a fan. Have a wonderful day. ❤

Yes, if your plan is to have a translucent finished look then those clays work perfectly for that. Have fun experimenting, and I can't wait to see what you create 🙂
