Having a tender heart is a special gift from God. Hearing the note you read & seeing your tenderness brought tears to my eyes. Yes, card making to some other people may seem frivolous & a waste of time & money but I've gotten some phone calls & texts from recipients of my cards & they have expressed how that card came just at the right time when they needed a lift of encouragement. So....waste of time & money....I think not! Frivolous? No way!!!! Each & ever card is a gift of love. Thank you for sharing your gift of card making with us, your adoring fans .

Im a 71 yr old grandma who's done tons of different crafts over my lifetime. In Nov i picked up the cardmaking bug. When pandemic hit in March I made over 1500 cards with a written message in each. I sent them to hospitals in San Antonio to healthcare workers. Each hospital was grateful and emotional to receive them. Im a retired healthcare worker high risk so i cant go back to work. This was my way of showing they are appreciated. It took 8 to 10 hrs a day but it was fulfilling to feel I cld do something during the pandemic.

I love your sensitivity about the card crafter that shared her story with you, and us! What a beautiful story. I had a friend that I sent cards to of love, friendship and encouragement, due to my friends heart health scare. I sent them every week for many months. My friend told me how lovely the cards were and how she looked so forward to getting them! I had no idea the importance of the cards were, until she told me she had kept every one of them. It’s the power of faith, love and a 50+ friendship that is truly the gift from God!!!

After my mom passed away, I found all the cards I had made and gave her through the years. I recycled them but it brought some peace to my grieving heart. Some of them were primitive from my early card making...almost laughable. But she loved all of them because she loved me. Card crafting is therapeutic. Card giving is kindness and I think our world needs a lot of it.

So emotional. You're not alone when it comes to crying when you hear something so special. My family keeps all my cards I send them. I have good friends that have kept all my Christmas cards I have made in the past and sits them on her mantle every year at Christmas. WOW I was so amazed by that. My daughter has a notebook with plastic sleeves where she keeps all of them that I have made for her and my Grandchildren. Making cards is so therapeutic for me and love all the great responses I get from making them. Thank you for sharing.

Ahhhh - I got choked up too... I’m not usually one who cries so easily, but my mom died of lung cancer too, so that was def part - what touched me most was that her MIL saved them all... when I find that people have saved mine it gives me so much joy, that in this “disposable” time we live in, someone was touched enough to save it.. I’d never save a store card, but the handmade ones? 💗💗💗 you have such a great heart Kristina, it’s part of who you are - much love and respect

Card making is cathartic, therapeutic, and if it brings a smile to someone's day, that's gravy. I made all the thank you cards after my son's passing, and again after losing my husband. Rote cutting, stamping, and embossing gave me something to do with my hands & stilled my heart for hours. I "inherited" this craft from my mother. I like to think she's smiling at my use of her supplies. A hobby, for sure....but so much more.

I am so sorry for your losses. I lost a son also but was emotionally unable to bring myself to make the thank you cards at the time. I did however go back later and make cards and wrote notes to many of the people whose condolences especially touched my heart. I must admit that of all of the hobbies that I did before my son’s death, card making is the only one that still brings me pleasure. I have lost interest in so many others. I think it is because I know that handmade cards bring people joy and comfort.

It was really touching reading this. I am sorry for both of your loses, but especially the one of your son’s, that’s a club that anybody wants to belong to. Surely crafting has served you as therapy, as it does for me on those moments when depression wants to creep in. Blessings.

I feel pretty lucky because my family tells me they would rather just get one of my cards than even a gift and they save them all. Kristina, thank you so much for sharing this touching story. It touched my heart. I send a lot of cards to my 8 grandchildren because I know how much they love to get mail. My daughter told me that her 3-year-old daughter loves the cards I send so much! She looks at them and carries them around and reads them over and over. Last time we went to visit (they live in Texas, far from Montana, where I live) I was playing with her in her little princess tent and I found one of the cards I had sent in the tent well-loved and handled. This absolutely made my day and reinforced why I love sending homemade cards.

Great card. I make cards for my church. They are sent to people who are in nursing homes, hospitals, shut ins, children and so on. One of the ladies from church went to visit a lady who was home bound, and she had the cards i had made on the mantle in her living room. She told my friend hat she will pick one up and read it to help pass the time. Made me feel very humble. God bless. TFS

Oh, my dear Kristina!! Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful message from your viewer. It, too, touched me because I often wonder how well my cards are received and whether they are kept and looked at. I have always kept in mind that the recipient's response is not why I send cards and notes. But instead, is something I wanted (and needed) to do for myself. I can literally get lost in card making for hours -- it is truly a therapy that I encourage everyone to try. Thank you so much again for sharing. Please be safe and well.

My mom was a lifetime crafter, seamstress and designer. She suffered some strokes and had a little bit of dementia from that but she kept crafting. She had a room just for crafting but after she couldn’t do as much she put some organizers all around her chair in the living room so she could still craft and at that point it was almost all papercrafting, card making, recipe/memory books and such. She called it her “therapy”. She made all kinds of things over the years and almost all of it was given away as gifts to friends and family. She passed in 2008 this month and I inherited a lot of her tools and papers. I now papercraft as my main/only hobby and as I get closer to retirement I love all the ideas, tools and designs out there for this wonderful crafty world. I look forward to having more time to make things for gifts. What a sweet story you shared about the folder of cards that was given back to her. I saved almost all the Christmas and birthday cards my grandmother sent me through the 60s and 70s. I made a scrapbook with them using vintage Christmas paper and used clear pockets for the actual card and color copied the inside so you could see the card in the pocket on the left page and the sentiment on the right page. I love that book dearly. So you mothers and daughters and grandparents and in-laws, save those things because they make a wonder gift of memories later on to someone.

I have been crafting since I was little. Tried all different types of crafting. When I graduated high school I took a job at my local craft store while going to college. Worked in all different parts of the store and now run the stamping and paper crafting department. I have gotten into card marking more in the last 6 years since I teach at our scrapbook parties. I love to show my customers how easy it is to create cards. Over a year ago I was asked to come and teach at a retirement community in my neighborhood every other month. Doing that helped me see the , WHY , in what I do. Those ladies still love to create cards and I love to teach them new techniques that they would not think to try. During all of this we have not been able to meet in person but I am still making kits once a month with 3 cards so they have something to keep them busy and they love it. Most of all I love being able to share my love of card making with all of them

I lost my mother during our level 4 lock-down and because I live in a different part of the country I was unable to be with her, we could not have a funeral and I have come to realise that funerals are a very important part of the grieving process, to be able to say goodbye. So I turned to my cardmaking with a new passion and for a few hours a day I was able to immerse myself into something that brings me joy. I am still struggling with my grief but at least I have an outlet so I don’t bottle my feelings up. Like you I cry at the drop of a hat. Movies, tv anything and I’m reaching for the tissues.

My brother has been unwell and I recently travelled to help him out - and we found many cards I’d made over the years that he’d been given on special occasions - from me and my family, but also from my mum and sister who I give a bunch of my cards to at Christmas every year - it was so touching to see he’s filed them away over the years. And it brought me unexpected joy to see the cards again as I’d spent special time with all of them, bringing them into existence. Thank you for the big part you’ve played in my card making journey (I’ve watched your vids for over 10 years I reckon - back to make a card Monday and I follow along and make cards with your holiday card series every year - you are an absolute gem. Thank you Kristina!!)

Thank you for this amazing video and especially for sharing the comments written by that special lady! You had me in tears 😭. I, like so many others, get such joy making cards and sharing them with friends and family. A very special friend whom I met in college many moons ago asked me if I would make her some more cards. I sent her some for the last two Christmases as I knew she had a lot to deal with... problems with children , a sister who was battling cancer and another sister who has mental challenges. My heart swelled with joy when she asked me to do this... so now I get to have some very special fun making a variety of cards for my very very special friend. Thank you for your videos and tutorials! I love your work and you explain things so well. I look forward to each and every one of them. God bless, Kristina and stay safe...

Kristina, I so agree with all the comments, card making has been the only constant in my life, I started 3 yrs ago, since, have lost two best friends, and recently after 16 yrs my other half , the man I was dating ,left me for someone else. Devastated and alone in October, then Corona hit, this would either break. me or make me. I am one of those at high risk if I get sick. I have a grandson who is 2, the joy of my life, when I could not see him for a bit, I threw my self into card making, using what I had to send cards to everyone I knew just to say hello, and let them know I was thinking of them. This saved me from hitting rock bottom., maybe even saved my life. Thank you for all of your inspiration.

Such a sweet and poignant story. Thank you for sharing it with us. One of the things I love about card making is how I will sometimes start a card and not know who it’s for, but as I continue making it I find myself thinking about someone in particular and how much they mean to me or about something they are going through, and then I know who the card is for. So much of my heart goes into my cards and they convey my desire to let others know they are loved and thought of and prayed for.

K, thank you for all your efforts. I can completely relate to your viewer’s story regarding the cards her mother in-law had in her precious possessions after passing. My grandmother of 98 passed two weeks ago. In her important papers she had all of the cards I had made for her. Wow! I realized that even though, we often feel that are cards are NOT making much of a difference or impact, for someone, they do! Thus, create, create, create! I love crafting but even if the card isn't made by yourself, sending and receiving cards or letters is such a meaningful memory, especially now when texting and emailing are the communication of choice. Getting something in the mail has so much more intention behind it, especially if it's not for a specific occasion. You end up with a gift as the sender's handwriting is included, making it so much more real... my daughter had a special relationship with her grammy (my mom) and after she passed, my daughter went through those cards and had a message, in her grammy's handwriting tattooed on her arm. Every time I see it on her, my heart gets warm as it's as if my mom put those words there herself!

I just saw this and the memories it has evoked. I'm fairly new to card making and have just in the past year started watching videos to learn new techniques. I am disabled (MS) and cared for my mother for 2 1/2 years while she battled ovarian cancer. When I went through her things I too found such a folder and it has meant so much to me. Even though some recipients don't show appreciation for the cards there are always those who are over the moon. The disease has stolen so many of the activities I loved and I am thrilled that I found this substitute. I love making cards which provide peace for me . I appreciate so much that you feel strongly not only for your craft but also for the people watching. And I laughed at the little banner that tells what finger nail polish you're wearing. Obviously a lot of people got distracted. 😂 Thank you for being here to teach me.

I just started making cards and stamping again during this pandemic. I haven’t done it in about 20 years then my cousin and another friend told me how they kept all my cards from 20 years ago! I was amazed and flattered. I had no idea. I am enjoying this craft an art again thank you so much for your video it is really helping to connect in times like these. What a great story! With best wishes, Sarah

Beautiful card! Thank you for sharing this person's story. My Mom was a card maker and when she passed, we gave her many created cards to her pastor for him to visit and give away. Now many of her supplies live on in my household and my daughter is learning to made cards. I make more than I send but love sending them.

Love your card!! Wow that lady's story had me in tears. I went through the same thing a few years ago. I love making my cards for family n friends. I'm in a craft fair every year n we have regulars coming back every year telling us how much our cards meant to the people they sent them too. I'm happy when creating cards n words from family n friends n customers make it all worth it. Thank you for what you do!! 💞

I saw this video today, my dad‘s birthday. We lost him in January and he was my biggest fan when it came to making my cards. When you said go make a car today make it purposeful, I just started crying Because I didn’t get to make him one this year. Card making is a huge therapy for me. Maybe I will make one today in his honor.

Making a card in his honor is a wonderful idea. I'm so sorry he is gone, but you can always have him in your heart & with you when your crafting. I miss my dad, too, something very sorrowful about a parents passing. I have found making cards & then donating to so many wonderful causes helps me to remember him & make someone else happy. A win/win!

What a wonderful story to share, Siobhan! You may never see this, but you are a beautiful soul. And now you carry that along with you. ❤️ Kristina, as a public figure, so to speak, thank you for sharing that story. Thank you for making your videos! I don't make cards often but I ALWAYS enjoy watching your videos. There is SO much more to them than just a tutorial. And how beautiful to see how special that message was for even you to receive. ❤️❤️❤️

I started card making about 2 years ago. It's my therapy and something for me. Having lost both of my parents when I was pregnant I gradually felt I had lost sense of who I was and lost pleasure in lots of things. A few years down the line and I have recovered from my depression. Card making brings me a simple joy and time to myself which is a much needed release. Tutorials such as yours have become such a lovely part of my life, it's like catching up with a friend. Thanks for what you do, don't underestimate how important these videos are. Xx (from the UK)

Wendy, I am so sorry for your loss and the depression that followed. I have been making cards for about 5 years, and it is definitely therapy and “me” time. I find after spending time creating, I just feel better. Thank you for sharing. I find Kristina’s videos and gentle voice so relaxing. I am having my cup of tea and watching this morning. Be safe. I love that story! My husband passed away five years ago this month. As my grown children and i went through all his treasures there was a box filled with all the cards we had ever given him. My kids were at that time, 30, 32 and 33 and what a powerful message it was to them to see their dad had kept their little toddler hand made cards right up to the present day. Yes cards have great value! I keep those given to me as well. Thank you, Kristina for what you do keeping our card making community inspired and encouraged!💕

Kristina, Thank you for sharing a fellow cardmaker's story. I was so touched by it as it reminded me of a similar event that happened to me. I make box cards...some call them exploding box cards. A friend at work asked me to make one for her Mom for Mother's Day. She gave me pictures of herself and her siblings to include. I added some appropriate verses for Mother's Day and gave it to my friend. She reported that her Mom absolutely loved the card! She said she just kept looking at it during her special day. A couple of years later, her Mom passed away. A group of us from work drove to Lakeland from Tampa for her funeral. It was beautiful. She was a lovely woman with a devoted family. After the service, and before our group left, my friend took me aside and told me the 'kids' had decided to bury their Mom with the 'card' that she loved. They found comfort in knowing how she treasured her family and that the reminder of how they loved her would be with her always. I could hardly hold it together. Cards are beautiful messengers of a multitude of emotions...and love is chief among them. Blessing to you for encouraging us all to make our best and send them out into the world.

I cried right along with you! And I needed to hear it. While I don't make cards for money, I make them for all my family. And lately I felt like why bother, no one seems to really appreciate it. (I have 2 almost grown boys) but my 20 yr old sons gf told me he keeps every card I make, and then hearing this really hit home!! Thank you for sharing.

God bless you Kristina, for your heartfelt feelings on the Instagram post you read. I too am a tender heart person and can cry at the drop of a hat. These times we are going through, makes it even more so for me. Through my card making I have kept myself busy, isolated for the most part from the mess outside of my home, but also to protect me from this virus. As I am a high risk person. I love watching your videos and enjoy listening to your soft beautiful voice. You are an inspiration to all of us.

I am easily affected aswell and often when I read a story to my son which was emotional I had a hard time not to cry. But I don't feel embarrassed about it any more. It's a part of me that tells so much about me. I'm born with it, so why should I hide it or feel ashamed? My Parents tried to protect me by telling me I should try to harden myself but that didn't help much except feeling wrong the way I am. Today I know, I'm an HSP and can't help but process things a little different than others. But it was a long way to this point. I found out about it when I researched about my sons condition, who is an HSP aswell. Now we are crying together about a heartbreaking story and he joins me in my crafting journey aswell. He is more in sculpting things than in cardmaking but sometimes he does cards aswell. A very therapeutical, creative connection between mother and son who try to embrace to be a little bit different ...Thank you for being so honestly touched by things and for sharing your wonderful ideas over and over again ... greetings from Berlin, Germany by Claude and Finn ♡

(BTW, I’m an ugly crier; you look lovely.) And thank you - I’d like to put some saying, some words on my craft room wall as a reminder of the “why.” I’ll have to figure out what it can be.

Thank you for reading this story. I too am very tender hearted and cry easily but I completely lose my voice. This hit very close to home with me. I recently lost my Mother. While I was going through her cedar chest in which she kept all her treasures throughout the years I found all the cards I had ever made her. I sobbed. I was overcome with such a mix of emotions. Again, thank you and thank you for all your tutorials.

Oh my, I didn’t think I was going to cry... but I am! You have always been such a HUGE inspiration to me Kristina! It’s obvious how big of a heart you have! I actually found KZfaq about 4 years ago! ( I always thought it just had crazy videos that teenagers watched?! Lol) At first I found watercolor videos, and found them to be fascinating! So I invested in watercolor supplies. Then I found cardmaking videos! I think you and Jennifer were 2 of the first people I watched! I was addicted to watching you create such beautiful cards, so I started buying supplies! I never thought in a million years that there could be so many different mediums out there?! It’s so different from scrapbooking!! I literally just started making cards a few months ago! Yes it took me that long to build up confidence in myself! I never thought it could be this therapeutic?! I lost my dad almost a year ago from Alzheimer’s! Unfortunately we had to place him in a nursing home, we just couldn’t handle him getting somewhat violent. When he declined, it literally happened in a four hour period! I was the only one that could get there to be with him when he took his last breath! (I thought I would be OK with this because I was a nurses aide most of my life) this totally broke my heart! It is so different seeing the man I looked up to my whole life take his last breath and watch the life leave his eyes! I’ve been battling with depression since this happened! Something told me to just try making cards to see if it would help, and it did! I know my dad would’ve been proud of me making these cards! He was always proud of my artistic abilities. Then July 3 I found out that my only nephew passed away unexpectedly! This broke my heart even more! After the services my sister asked me if I could make cards to thank people for the flowers they had sent. I thought it was going to be hard, but again I learned that it was just helping me with my pain! Words can’t express how grateful I am to you in so many other awesome card makers out there that have inspired me and helped me with my depression! Thank you so much!!!😊💗

so true that we do this for the love of it, if you happen to make a living from it, that is wonderful. I live in Spain and my children & Grandchildren are in the UK so I send handmade cards to them often, not just for birthdays, anniversaries or Christmas. My little Granddaughter Freya, especially loves to get them in the post. So much more meaningful than a phone call (I do that too, though) and something she can show her friends, put on her dresser or just play with. Unicorns, fairies and anything dressy-uppy is what I do for her! I love your inspiring videos, they have helped me create some lovely cards. Thank you x

It isn't just cardmaking. Making cards is therapeutic for the maker. Receiving a card - handmade or store-bought - is therapeutic for the receiver. When we cleaned out my dad's house, I found every card - most store-bought - my siblings and I and our children and nieces and nephews had sent for any occasion - over 50 years of cards!

Some days I don't know how I'm going to make it through another day & I watch one of your or many other Amazing crafters videos & some how it makes me feel better. 😊 I'm not creative myself bit I do CASE & add a couple of my own touches but it makes me feel better even if it's following directions on something someone else has made. Idk if this makes any sense but I do want to thank you & all the others out there for making my day better! ❤😘

Kristina...I, too, am a very emotional and sensitive person...you are such a sweetheart! I learned a long time ago that I will not be embarrassed about how I show my empathy, love, joy, or even sadness...it is who I am!! My family knows and expects the reaction that they know I will openly share...card making is my therapy (although NOT cheaper than professional therapy! LOL) BUT I find JOY, PEACE, and LOVE in creating a piece of art for someone special!! Just recently I made a very special anniversary card for my oldest brother and SIL who I am extremely close to and when I handed it them, she said how beautiful it was! Then she looked at the back and saw my personal "handmade by" and thought that it was store bought! I was so flattered and pleased with their reaction!! That is WHY I do what I do...not for the compliments etc but for the pleasure it gives others!! I try to personalize each card is some way to fit the recipient , if possible, unless I am mass producing. What a gift and blessing that we can share a little piece of our creative selves with others! Thanks for being YOU!!
