Pickled Eggs... have you ever tried them? I'm not talking about the gross looking ones in the truck stops and bars. I mean good, homemade ones!
If you're a fan of pickles and boiled eggs, make this recipe. I almost guarantee you they'll be a favorite! (...and they're SO easy to make!)

***** About Southern Dreams Homestead *****
We are Patrick and Jessie of Southern Dreams Homestead. We live in rural Georgia (Zone 8a) with our 2 kids and 3 dogs. Blended family chasing the homestead dream in GA! Join us on our journey to be more self-sufficient!
We've been growing a garden for a couple of years, learned to can and preserve food, and are looking to continue expanding our knowledge for the future.
Our five year plan includes a new homestead on 10+ acres with multiple garden plots, chickens, pigs, goats, and a dedicated space to cooking and canning outdoors.
We hope you will join us on our trek for better self-reliance as we prepare our family for all possible future events (including natural disasters and even a grid shut-down) by learning to do more, grow more, and provide more resources for our family.

It's good to see you teach and share that with your son..he gets to know how to cook his own food and enjoy where it comes from..there is a video on Simple Living Alaska where a husband/wife team pickled-canned over 300eggs!!

Looks good! I tried pickled eggs for the first time, ever, and loved them. I was surprised, because the idea had never appealed to me, yet I really enjoyed them. If you like pickles, I’d say you’ll likely like pickled eggs. Plus, it’s a great way to store a high protein snack.

Going to try the recipe today. First time pickling and canning. I took a jar of dill pickles and took out the pickle and replaced with eggs. I look forward to making my own picked eggs.

When the dill pickled are finished I add fresh baby dill chopped without the stems, they are bitter. I hard boil 14 eggs. Add a bit of white vinegar and let it sit in the fridge six weeks. My kids love them, I also cut them in half and pop the yokes into a bowl and mix it with mayonnaise and spoon back into the half eggs and sprinkle salt and pepper and a dash of Tobasco Mmmm!

It’s great that you use the tea infuser. I use empty tea bags for my pickling spices and avoid the contact with metal.

We've never had any adverse reactions with the metal tea infuser. However, you could always use cheesecloth or a tea towel. They're reusable. :)

I made a trial batch of pickled eggs a week ago. I put in couple of garlic cloves and a teaspoon of hot chili flakes. No water - just filled the jar with a mix of regular and apple vinegar. I'm very tempted to try them already LOL

You should be able to fully load your Insta pot with eggs and not divide them in that little container I have a 6 quart Insta pot that will hold about 40 eggs at a time and I do the 555 method

Use a toothpick and poke a couple holes in the eggs before you put them in. The brine will soak deeper. Saw it on another you tuber.

After 2 weeks of being in the refrigerator, you start using them. Do you keep them in the refrigerator like pickles? How long would you keep them, assuming they don't get eaten up quickly? Very good video.
@SouthernDreamsHomestead
@SouthernDreamsHomestead 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, they need to be kept in the refrigerator. We've had some in there since we made the video, and they're still good. 😁

Any alternate to sugar as I don't like sweet taste, can add dark soya sauce?

It's pretty much free reign as long as you keep the vinegar proportion the same. I'd say add the soy sauce! :)
