Bulgarian donuts - a delicious delicacy
The mekitsas ( donuts ) are very popular for breakfast in Bulgaria.
This version of the recipe is more fast than the classic recipe made with levadura.

The recipe:
1/2 kg flour
1 cup yogurt - 200 grams
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
oil for frying
Method of preparation
1. Sift flour. Put soda in the yogurt and mix
Add eggs and yoghurt to the flour. Using a fork, beat the mixture until it becomes large sticky pieces and knead a medium soft dough with your hands.
2. Roll out a round crust 1 cm thick.
3. From it cut triangular pieces.
4. Triangles must be made thinner by hand
5. Heat 300 milliliters of oil in a deep frying pan.
6. Fry 2 or 3 triangles for a minute or so, until golden brown.
Serve with cheese, jam or dust with icing sugar.
