I made a quick-release mount for this 7-foot camera boom to shoot videos from various locations in my workshop. See brainright.com/quick-mount-ca... for more details and links to the parts I used.

This multiple point mounting technique is absolutely game changing. I can't believe I never thought of that. Cheers!

Pretty nice! You'll probably find other uses for a an overhead "hand." Keeping airhoses, electric cords, vacuum hoses, and so on, out of the way.

Yeah, I may be shopping for a second boom arm soon.

Thank you for this! I saw your review over on the Amazon page for this boom arm and it led me here.It looks like you have a great setup with all of those mounting options! I'm actually thinking of using this for lighting options in my studio. I do reviews of assistive technology and I'm always in need of overhead lighting! I was hoping the arm pivoted on its base but wasn't sure. Thanks to your video, I think it's exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you again!

YOU ARE A VERY GOOD HANDY MAN. A LOT OF PPL ARENT AS HANDY AND DONT HAVE THOSE SPECIAL DRILLS AND THINGS YOU HAVE THERE. IM CERTAINLY NOT A HANDY WOMAN. I LIKE HOW YOU SET UP YOUR BOOM ARM FOR OVER HEAD FILMING THOUGH.

Very nice, Jay! I envy your ceiling height; mine is 8' and no room for anything like that. Good job on this!
@BrainRight3 жыл бұрын
Thanks David. Actually my ceiling is only 7' underneath the loft area so your ceiling is higher, and I set the boom below 7' so I can easily reach the camera.

That thing is pretty cool and the mounting plate makes it very versatile! I like it! The boom looks a bit shaky but i guess since it's not mounted to a surface you are working/walking on it won't be noticeable?
@BrainRight3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a bit shaky but my mounts are all on walls or support posts that shouldn't be affected by running tools. It's not bad when retracted but at the full 7 feet it moves noticeably so I think I'll need to wait about a minute after touching the camera to let it stop moving.

How much weight do you think it can hold when it's fully extended? I am planning on ordering it for my studio lights but I'm worried about the weight. Thanks
@BrainRight2 жыл бұрын
This particular boom is rated for 12 lbs at full extension.

Does anyone make a smaller version of the Wall Mounting Boom Arm with Triangle Base or something comparable, but small?
@BrainRight3 жыл бұрын
I don't know of a specific brand, but you can find many boom arms like this on Amazon. I chose this particular one because it was longer than most.

will you do a shop tour in 2021?
@BrainRight3 жыл бұрын
Yes! I am close to having the shop cleaned up enough to do a shop tour video, and once it's clean I'll hurry up and shoot the video before it gets messy again. :-)
