I believe that you were trying to teach us how to make a rosebud. You did, in a roundabout way do that. I work with gumpaste. However, I found your video very useful. I would like to see how you do your little trick of holding the ball of porcelain in the beginning. I also liked how you cut your calyx and veined each petal of the calyx. It made it look more realistic.

I enjoy working with both mediums and I agree with all your comparisons. There is so much more flexibility with CP and it gives a more definitive and realistic look, that being said , sugar flowers have their own uniqueness in that it dries relatively quicker depending the size of the flower. Some say they prefer sugar flowers on a cake over CP but the reality is , both have wires in them. The CP arrangements last forever. Your input on both is fantastic. Love your technique, spot on ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I look forward to more of your work.

Hi Christina, I'm a big fan of yours, I learn so much from all your videos. I'm so glad you are going into cold porcelain a bit. I started out with gumpaste to make flowers but having them break and become too brittle is a bummer. I once made a CP but I was undecided about it I was still to used to the gumpaste. Presently I make my flowers from air dry clay. I think it's very comparable to Deco air dry clay. I'm going to try your recipe for CP. I have been noticing lately that bean paste is the new big thing. There is a clay version and a buttercream piping version of bean paste. I think the bean paste clay dries somewhat flexible to the flowers are not that sensitive to breakages. This is why I love the air dry clay because it's very durable and light, it dries almost like paper, it can be dusted, painted or sprayed. I'm finding that most cake designers still want to put sugar flowers on their cakes, I guess it's hard to change after all these years. I think the more durable versions of clay is wonderful because they can keep the flowers after their event is over, also they stand up to the condensation from refrigeration. Keep those videos coming thank you so much for making them, I'm learning so much from you. Christina D.

@@Christina_Wallis The cost of the veiners is ridiculous while the quality is so poor. I'm in process of trying to make some for myself, but I know I will still have to purchase. Do you have a preference of companies for buying them? Roses are something I make a lot of ( cold porcelain and they are usually gifts, not sales) so wanting a good one for larger petals (life-sized long stemmed) as inexpensive as possible...ARGGG. Now to get a good rose with good veins to use as a model.

Hi Christina I love this video , thank you very much love the cold porcelain compared to the gum paste flowers. Your work is my style forming petals almost natural , I detest cutter formation petals . I will definitely try this . Could the flowers be sprayed with a clear varnish? Looking forward to continue watching more videos. 👌

Hi Christina, I am just learning how to make gumpaste flowers and have invested quite a bit already in the petal dusts, wires, cutters, etc..I was a porcelain doll maker yrs ago, then went into card making for 20 yrs and now starting this. Can you please tell me what the difference is between COLD PORCELAIN and Gumpaste is? I thought they were both the same, but obviously not. I love your video's though you talk a little fast for me, I think that is because I am just learning, but I really would like to know the difference before I go any further. Thank you so much. I have subscribed. Again Thank you!

cold porcelain tends to be brittle at the edge of the flower. once it drop it will break at the edge. any way or any recepi of cold porcelain that will make not brittle?
@christiedecker2724
@christiedecker2724 6 жыл бұрын
I found that using Alleen's Tacky Glue ( www.amazon.com/Aleenes-oz-Original-Tacky-Glue/dp/B00178KLEY ) helps it to be less brittle than using other brands like Elmer's glue-all. Also, cold dry are makes them more brittle as well, so warmer moister air is better for the flowers (and us too! :) Blessings!

Hi there, i've always been a huge fan of yours, and always learning from your videos, but you know busy life sometimes takes offline and now as i was watching your video as always i learned a lot, gumpaste or cold porcelaine it doesn't matter to me i'm quite good with handling gumpaste as C.P. even though it's very hard to get all cutters and veiners needed i'm like you always improvising. i'm a cake decorator from Lebanon, and i make gumpaste flowers and i like to do them as realistic as i can , and i would love to have your professional opinion about my work please, here's my facebook page: Pure Honey - Cakes & Sugar Flowers Art Studio. Please do check it and hope to hear soon from you. your opinion is extreamly valuable to me. thanks

Brenda Sturgeon I highly disagree. This is not a beginner's tutorial. You should already have the basic skills in flower making. She lists all the tools needed in the description and gives the details where needed.
