I do mostly removals and its not that interesting posting a video of deadwooding or a reduction.

Good question! Mostly its to be able to use the other hand and hold the limb or push the tree over.. Its not allowed to be cutting with one hand here in Sweden. And sometimes its just quicker than starting the saw

I do an undercut on limbs to avoid to have to chase the cut when the limb starts to go. Also to avoiding the limbs to peel away. I use the handsaw when I need to use the hand to push or handle a limb/top. And sometimes its faster to just take out the handsaw for a cut than starting the saw.

how has your service been going? I started my own service too about a year ago and I have no idea how to quote jobs still. I just throw out numbers and hope I don't lose money after hiring people and paying for removal..

Calculating your operating costs is a start for knowing whether your 'losing money'. Quoting jobs takes time to get 'good' at because you need to understand the local market, the competence of your workers, and have an understanding which customers can afford certain services or not. It takes time, but you really need to get organized or you'll always be unsure of yourself.

@@jordanjuliano70 you know it was called a removal for a reason. pine trees are big and the limbs shed while the gets taller and the limbs are massive and can damage a house and kill people if the limb breaks off and lands on someone.

under 6 inches is kinda sketchy

but schetcy climbing can be safer than dangerous topping if the crown is big or leaning I think its worth the risk to go up higher and cut a smaller top. Im in no position to give that kind of advice though

You are correct! If I slip I dont want any sharp parts that can pierce me. But also when rigging even that little ledge can stop the limbs when lowering so I do it automatically

The reason to use the handsaw is to have the other hand free to use. It is very dangerous to use the chainsaw with one hand only

@@patkarlsson what a nonsense! It is one-hand chainsaw to work with trees. He all the time uses this one-hand chainsaw but some times cuts a branch with handsaw... why? I dont get it!

Yeah back in the day it was made for one handed but now its not allowed to use one handed here in Sweden. I do NOT care a bit of how you use the saw. Im working safe and will not use it that way. There have been alot of injuries and accidents from one handed use.
