Rubbing alcohol also works very well. It burns initially, but helps so much with healing and itching.

Thank you so much. My wife is eat up with chigger bites. She is itching so bad she can't even sleep. She's itched herself raw. I mixed up some petroleum jelly and salt. She said it burns a little but the itch is slowly subsiding. THANK YOU SO MUCH! We'll be going to a clinic ASAP to get the ointment you suggested.

Thanks for the info. My wife had that exact prescription in the cabinet that the doctor gave her for shingles. Your are right! It works awesome, takes the itch away and last for a long time (also speeds up the healing process). I told my wife that the reason chiggers are red is because they are little demons! I hate getting bit by them but I love being outdoors.

Yea tree oil stops the itch for several hours. I put some on before bed and sleep without itching, then a little more after my morning shower and I’m good until the evening time. I buy the pharmaceutical grade tea tree oil.

I know they love high grassy areas, so maybe just keep the grass short. There may be some kind of pesticide, but I'm not sure. Sorry!

How I deal with chiggers and their bites uses white vinegar, ethanol (Everclear), lavender essential oil, and an exfoliating cloth. I use a spray bottle to mist my lower legs with white vinegar to discourage their hitching a ride. I, also, spray my dogs’ feet and fur, as well as any sections of the yard that seem problematic. If any bites become noticeable, I use a spritz bottle to spray ethanol onto the itchy bite - if the chigger is still attached, it kills it; but, primarily the alcohol soaks into the skin and helps sooth the bite, as well as the benefit of the cooling action. While taking a hot sudsy shower, I use the exfoliating cloth to scour every square inch of my body that I feel is in jeopardy / this removes any still attached chiggers. Immediately after the shower, while the pores are still open, I apply the lavender essential oil to the itchy spots. The quicker you can take action, the better. Note: Of course, rubbing rubbing alcohol is good, but I’m leery of breathing the fumes for any great length of time ( note the warning labels). Reading about the chiggers’ etymology is important, as well as ways to combat them. I’ve ordered a product called Cedarcide, a cedar oil product.

I had a bunch of chigger bites after helping to cut and haul a giant oak tree in the central USA. They didn't itch they burned and ached. I had bed bug bites about a decade ago from sleeping at a church infested with them in Tempe Arizona and there was bunch loads of them and they all itched so bad I had to buy a anti bug bite itch spray. The spray helped until it rubbed and then I had to more of it on. The bed bug bites are worse than mosquito bites. The itch from each bite lasted for at least two weeks, the mosquito bites the itch last usually less then a week. Well from experience.

Anyway, I just got into a nest of good ole chiggers and I had no idea this stuff worked for that too. Just put it on the affected areas reckon you already knew but this stuff also works great for Poison Ivy and Poison Oak!! Good Stuff...

On a recent camping trip, I came home with 8 chigger bites. I make chili oil with finely ground hot chili peppers and olive oil mostly, overnight in the fridge some of the oil separates to the top and I put a few drops of it on a bandaid and cover the bites, it knocked out the itch and killed the chiggers, however, it is a bit of a pain and kind of messy but the gauze on the bandaid keeps the oil against the bite. Also plain old Hydrocortisone cream does a good job reducing itch.

I got chiggers from wearing short pants while cutting grass. I noticed itching around my ankles that lasted a few days. Found out I had chiggers. A friend of mine suggested to use clear finger nail polish.I put it on the itching area until it hardened.I left it on my skin for about a couple days.The finger nail polish smothered the chiggers out & the itching went away

@@AdventureCamping I ordered a bottle of liquid Sawyer and it worked great. I spent 3 hours in my yard Friday morning without a single tick or chigger bite. There are a lot of videos already but more is better as not too many of them are comprehensive on proper use. Proper solution strength, apply and let dry, not for skin, use at least 4 oz on whole outfit, dangerous to cats, and more I had to learn from multiple locations. I think I may buy a bottle of the 10% concentrate after this bottle as it saves a bunch of $'s. I'm even considering a wide application to the areas around my pool and garden and I'm searching for more info on that now.

Would a hot compress at 130-140°F (54-60°C) work? It works on mosquito bites, because that temperature range is hot enough to deactivate the enzyme that mosquitoes inject, which causes the itching, reddening and swelling, but isn't so hot that it will cause skin burns.

I use a homeopathic remedy: Ledum palustre 12C (12C is the potency. It comes in different potencies and 12C works best for insect bites.) It actually works for all insect bites. Within 5-10 minutes, the itch is gone. Usually for good. If it comes back, just redose. No need to use 4 pillules like it says on the tube. One will do the trick. Just remember not to touch them with your hands. Or anything else. Just tap or "squeeze" one into the top of the tube, then pop it into your clean mouth, under your tongue (Not right after brushing your teeth and well after eating or drinking anything other than clean water). If a pill falls out to the ground or elsewhere, discard it. It won't work. This remedy also works for any kind of painful trauma to the tips of your fingers or toes. Also great for puncture wounds. And not expensive either.

I live in France where these mites are known as aoûtats. I get attacked throughout July, August and September and I have never seen one! They are really tiny. I walk my dog through agricultural land and forests, daily. I also forage for hedgerow fruit. In short, I ask for trouble and I get it. By the time you feel an itch, the culprit has gone - what remains is the digestive juice - enzymes. The enzyme molecule can be broken by the application of heat, the easiest way being by hot water. This needs to be more than shower-hot. It must be as hot as you can bear it for as long as you can, directly onto the "bite". Done with maximum fortitude this will suppress the itch for 24 hours. It's the old cowboy remedy for a rattlesnake bite but without the hot Bowie knife! Also, wear cotton clothes that you can hot wash and dry because the little devils will hang about...

Hot water! Go in the shower put the water on it as hot as you can stand it, and apply the hot water to the itchy areas. It’s like magic. You’ll get at least two hours of relief. I had to go to work one day when I was covered with chigger bites. I was up all night the night before scratching couldn’t sleep, I was miserable! I took a hot shower before work I mean really hot. The water Hass to be scalding hot. It’s weird it doesn’t really burn you. All you feel is the relief from the itching. Even at work I was going to the bathroom every few hours and run the hot water on my feet and ankles.

Short term solution can be spraying windex on a paper towel and then rubbing it on the affected area. I'm not a doctor and cannot say it will not hurt your skin, but it did help me

Do the trigger bites scar? Will the discoloration go away?
@AdventureCamping

@AdventureCamping
@AdventureCamping 4 жыл бұрын
@@joelamantia2080 well the bump comes from a bite. There is no chigger in it. But yes most likely it will go away if you can keep from scratching it.

I used powdered Himalayan Sea Salt (use a mortar & pestle) , with just enough WATER to make a paste & paste it over the bite with the back of a spoon and then cover it with a homemade band-aid, using 3m Micropore tape (glue doesn't aggravate the skin or remove skin when pulling it off) and a square of paper towel/toilet paper for the middle & then wet/dampen this square. The bite stops itching in 15 seconds after application & may require another application the next day. The Chigger bite will now heal up within a week typically, instead of 2 weeks to a month & a lot less scarring. If you can hit the bite right after you get, it could heal up in 2 days time, so keep some powder salt around you always. What you're essentially doing is, is the killing the bacteria the Chigger injected into you, while it was feeding on your blood...it's the same method flies & spiders use to eat their prey/food. Vaseline is a toxic substance and you really shouldn't even put it on your skin, let alone if you have an open wound, like a Chigger bite. Hope this helps EVERYONE, because the invention of the Chigger, was CERTAINLY a SCREW-UP/MISTAKE made by GOD himself, which I'm sure he'd admit to if asked..LOL! Peace All

Sounds like great stuff for pain relief! But if you want those suckers dead, which in return stops the itching altogether, put a layer of nail polish on top of the bites if they are still young it won't burn at all. Let the nail polish dry and leave it on your wound for around 3 three hours or half the day to suffocate the little demons. Then remove the dry nail polish by peeling it off, 9/10 you will see the little black dot on the peeled off nail polish, that's the dead chigger.

Jimmy I use a free software you can find on cnet downloads called VSDC. It pretty good and easy to use. You will have to be careful about music though. If it is from, let's say a band on the radio, you have to have permission to use it. Something you created is fine. Just a heads up just in case KZfaq flags it. BTW, I got a GoPro hero 4!! Can't wait to put it to use!

+Clayton Yeager Hey, it is actually a VERY common misconception that there is a bug in the bite, but this is not the case. The bump is simply a reaction to the bite. Much like a mosquito bite.
