This solved my year long dilemma of not being able to get multiple photos out of my Samsung Galaxy S7 into my Mac. I've had to do them one by one, requiring constant vigilance. The tip about the Samsung thumb drive solved all that, plus the informative video helped immeasurably. I came back from a trip and now all 800 photos are in my computer where I can work with them and share them. I can't thank you enough.

Second option, can be done with a USB on-the-go adapter of $0.24 and any usb stick you want. You can also transfer files with bluetooth or FTP directly from the device.

Please Help me out....The large USB end of the device is female and the connection on my PC is also female. They do not make a USB male to male cord that I have ever seen. So how do I connect this to the USB connection on my PC? Also, I have a Samsung S3 phone. The app that you said automatically comes on. What do I do if it does not come on?

Wow, epic, waste of time

This is BRILLIANT! Because, you can be sure to catch everything if you go through all your apps, one by one, collecting docs from each as well as going through your usual locations on the phone using a file manager. Problem with File managers is they often don't reveal document files created by apps (an example might be the images created by joke apps such as baldify and ageify.) BEST OF ALL: I don't have to worry about navigating my way around the file structure used by the phone! I have needed to do this because I found there are files scattered all; over the place, most of which are not shown by simply plugging in a USB cable to connect the phone to the PC. Just one drawback using this method: I still cannot access .apk files that I might want to transfer to other phones. There are programs like ACR which used to work well before law changes forced Google to break these apps in recent incarnations. Cannot get older versioins from app store. SO only way is to keep functioning older versions from your phone. So if anyone knows a workaround, please share! Thanks!

if you don't have space on your phone you use a new or bigger memory card, then you move the photos from the memory card to the pc and delete them from your memory card.... that flash usb is still useful, as it gives an extra place in which to save your photos...

this is good alternative to transfer files from phone to Mac but while you copy data to Micro USB dates are changing. Its problem with chronology when you try add videos to iMovie. Do you have idea guys how slove this problem?

Does it work both ways? I found transferring a 1 GB+ video file from PC to phone took 15 minutes. Can I copy my video files onto the USB drive and then plug into the phone and transfer to there?

This would have been a good video - but you mentioned if you have a Samsung S7 do it a little differently, then just dropped us after that. First of all - once in the 'File', my device did not display the word 'photo' or 'images'........so could not proceed. I went to USB storage 1 - but images or photo's did not appear so was not able to choose. This is typical of tutorials though.

I have a problem, my USB connection with debugging did work but now when I plug a flash drive into my phone, no symbol pops up on the phone like it used to. I pressed the developer button 7 times already & it worked moving files this way but now it won't.

being struggling for days to move photos to Mac tried anytrans program it is a nightmare

My Samsung does not have an SD card, and my phone does not appear in my Devices and I couldn't see an option to add it, and it was not found by the computer. So I still see no way to download my pictures. I did find My Files, but I had no idea what to do with it. I am out of space on my phone, emails won't load, can't do anything with camera. Ught!

I like your desciption of transfering fies from your android to you PC I can't afford that thingamabob you had but there are files on my PC and some on my phone that I want to share back and forth, is there another way of doing this... my usb cord doesn't even recognise that it is plugged into my computer, so PLEASE don't suggest that unless you can walk me through it all another way.

can you wirelessly transfer files from an android phone...not thru a drive as you demonstrated but thru Bluetooth as I saw done on a mac to transfer files from an i phone to a mac book? I use an android phone and was thinking of getting a mac book and wondering if this file transfer feature will be available to me since i have an android phone.Wondering too if I am better off sticking with a Microsoft surface windows 10 pc so that it is more compatible with my android phone.I just dont know a lot about this so any help and suggestions you can offer is much appreciated.

This will not work with the Samsung S7 as it has a micro usb connector. This memory stick has a usb-c connector.

If you can store the pics and vids on a sd card. Just turn off phone remove sd card and transfer that way. Vids in the files

Why is the flash drive different than using a cable? Does the flash drive awaken some prompt which communicates with your laptop- that the cable doesn't? Also I don't think you specifically mentioned text messages, will the flash drive transfer text messages?
