This by far is the best video on quick jack.... I haven't heard anyone talk about using air pressure, nor not using the lift without weight. Best of luck Thank you

Nice video and well put together. I made my purchase two years ago and love it. Can I mention two things. First, Before any vehicle is lifted with this Jack you MUST first bleed the system, step by step included in the instructions. Skipping this part could lead to a catastrophic accident. Second, always use the blocks when lifting the car to prevent possible damage to the unit and the vehicle.

Weeks later and still in love with my new jack very sturdy and easy to use. Just had to tighten air valves for assist cylinders not in instructions. Love using them and now enjoy taking off all tires to work on car.

After much contemplation i bought the quick jack 5000 .....After the initial set up which took about 2 1/2 hours there is nothing quick about it .The hoses and compressor are awkward and the ramps are very heavy and difficult to position and move around in a one car garage . Then there is the fact you are relying on some small spot welded block on each side to support a 4500 lb car !! Of course i always use jack stands but being the quick jack takes up all the lifting point real estate the only place for them is under the lift itself. The problem with that is if the quick jack fails it comes down on an angle and would more than likely kick out your jack stands. I am using it but definitely having buyers remorse. If you have the option to do a 2 post lift its a lot easier and safer...Just MHO

Would you recommend for a mobile mechanic ? I am building a mobile mechanic van /business and looking at different options for when lifting cars other than just a normal jack and stands . This quick jacks would make me feel right at home after working in shops for so many years

As long as you dont mind the weight when unloading, loading, positioning, etc, these can certainly be mobile. Many people take them to race tracks. I would recommend you get an SLX size model and add the extention kit so that you accomodate different size cars. You probably want the 12v DC power unit also so you dont need an outlet when working on the road. One thing to note when using the length extentsions is that these require about 1 inch of added clearance from the ground. If you are working with lowered, long wheel base cars, you may need to raise them a bit before you put them on the quickjack. I use a piece of 2x6 wood under each wheel of my M5, for example. Good luck!

A couple of points: 1) You did not align the lifting blocks correctly - they are to be inserted into the pinch weld. 2) You can change the direction of the lifts to be perpendicular to the side of the vehicle IF there is close to a 50/50 weight distribution . Quicklift actually demonstrates this in their videos - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a6qkmL2jldLWiH0.html
@NoGaragE30
@NoGaragE30 3 жыл бұрын
Lifting blocks are perfectly aligned. Maybe you havent seen one of these blocks before? If you are referring to this part on the video 5:42 where you can see the indent perpendicular to the pinch weld, that is because the blocks have a cross "+" pattern on them so you can place them whatever side fits best on the car. You can see the weld going through it at 12:26 .

I’m considering this lift too. But several vids I’ve seen suggest you may have these backwards. The piston should point upwards toward the heaviest part of the vehicle, namely the engine. A handy rule of thumb is to keep the yellow signage at the front tires. Just wondering if you have seen those videos too and if this company recommends such an alignment in their literature. Good luck with your jacks and thanks for the good advice.

How safe is this lift?
@NoGaragE30
@NoGaragE30 Жыл бұрын
Safety was one of the main reasons I got it. I feel a lot safer overall when working with this compared to jack stands. As long as you operate and maintain it according to QJ recommendations you shouldn't have any issues.
@gwot

I bought these, and to be honest, it doesn't go any faster or any easier. I find myself grabbing jack and stands way more often. Can't really find a reason why this is worth buying, especially at $2000. Also if you're weak, these are even harder to set up, I deadlift more than 400lbs and these are heavy to maneuver on their little wheels, and good luck fine adjusting them under the car.
@NoGaragE30
@NoGaragE30 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting to hear from others with vastly different experiences. If you only need to raise one end of the car quickly then I would agree the average jackstands and floorjack is hard to beat from an effort and cost perspective. However, if you like to lift the entire car often for different jobs then I found this to be a lot easier and faster than setting up the car on 4 jackstands. More importantly, it feels a lot safer to me at least. For example, I did a full suspension refresh after getting this and must have lifted and droped the car a dozen times in the process just becaue I could with the touch of a button. I do agree they are heavy and depending on your garage setup can be difficult to move around. In my case they are mostly sitting on the floor at each side of the garage and I can slide them into place over my smooth concrete with ease. They are not cheap but you can get good deals on them often, I paid $1300 for mine shipped to my door.
@gwot
@gwot 3 жыл бұрын
@@NoGaragE30 I gotta agree it does feel safer than stands. And I think it's about the same set up time to put a car on 4 stands for me, cuz by the time I grab the motor, hoses, extension cord, and set the quickjack roughly under the car and connect it, I could already put 2 stands under the car and jacking the other end already. I use these on smooth concrete as well and they're not that easy to get sliding when they're under the car when you gotta move it by an inch. But yeah, for the jobs where you need to raise and lower multiple times is a no brainer. Unless I store them connected and sitting beside the car, I can't justify $1300 either... And I got mine for free! :P

Curious if you or anyone else has actually tried using jack stands in combination. After much thought, research, and practice, I have come to the conclusion jack stands are not necessary (if even possible). Believe me, I looked into every possibility since Im a freak about safety and the manual hints at this in what appears to be a legal CYA statement. The first thing you will notice is there is no safe way to add jack stands with the car on the QuickJack, not in a way that will actually help in the event of failure anyways which is a big if. The system has two security mechanisms built-in with the hydraulics and the mechanical stops already. I do use my floor jack as a third measure in the area Im working on whenever possible but that is more of a psychological assist. The QuickJack is solid and built to support a lot more weight than it is rated for.

The Quickjacks are great if you're lucky and get one without a defective air cylinder. If you do get one of those you're screwed - the company will 100% not stand behind their product. They'll claim the air-assist down isn't "necessary to the function of the lift". Really? So if one side has air assist down and the other doesn't, and they drop unevenly, that's safe? And then when the vehicle drops to the ground and one side of the lift goes straight to the full down position while the other... doesn't. You need to wait... and wait... and wait for it to drop with no weight on it. Quickjack will claim this "is normal operation" and that "it will get better over time". If you invest a massive amount of time trying to get them to stand behind their product they will, eventually, after burning through every once of customer goodwill, send out a new cylinder. Yay! Until you get the replacement and the freakin' air side is literally capped off. Like intentionally made unusable. That's not a fix guys. Then they'll claim that the engineers decided the down-assist wasn't necessary and that they've changed the design on future models. But I didn't buy a future model with less functionality. I bought the current model with exactly the functionality I wanted, was promised, and paid for. Whatever. Too much time wasted on it already - I've written off the entire company as another skanky marketing hack with no integrity. I still have it in my shop, but the company worked very hard to make me regret my purchase and it low-key pisses me off every time I look at it.

Safety happens to be the most important factor for me when getting under the car. Im one of those people that would put mulitple jackstands, wheel cribs, and a floorjack as backup. Even with all that I would do my best to get in and out as fast as I can from under the car. With that said, the QuickJack is the safest portable solution I have found after much research. Curious to hear what exactly "doesn't seem safe" to you?

Since you stopped by to watch the video and comment I will assume you are thinking about it. It is plenty high for most DIY projects and I dont even go to the highest setting most of the times. I have used jack stands for years and this is by far a better option. I do a lot more work on my cars since I have them just because of how easy it is to lift a car and bring it back down with the push of a button. Not to mention the safety factor. I dont know anyone who has a set that isnt happy with it.
