Quicksilver AU GT500 Part 1

Part 1 will give a brief introduction to Quicksilver Aircraft Australia and the Quicksilver GT500 and the Quicksilver GT400. This is the first of many videos that I will be putting on this channel, and the future videos will be covering things like flight training, aircraft safety, maintenance, Gopro's, GA conversion and anything else that I can think of that will be useful to the ultralight aircraft fraternity.

I thought the same when I started flying ultralights. I learnt on a stick, but when I discovered the GT400 I adapted quickly. Ther original GT400 was designed by Quicksilver to get to the GA fraternity who just want to go and have some fun, hence the yoke and flaps. In reality they don't need flaps, but they are handy for short takeoffs and landings. My next video will be on the GT400 which I should get sorted over the next few weeks. Just waiting for the weather to improve so I can get some footage.

Hi Guys (and Gals), complimentary Sorry for the delay in further videos, as I have been busy with a building project that has taken up a lot of time, which is now 95% finished. We are based in Newcastle Australia on the coast, about 100 miles north of Sydney, and this summer we have had a lot of rain and high winds, and our grass strip takes a while to dry out when it rains, so in between Covid and crappy weather I have not been able coordinate many flying days. We have just had 3 straight days of heavy rain, so the GT400 with its cameras ready and prepped to go will just have to wait a few more days. Part 2 coming soon. Thanks Tim, I have had similar comments from other subscribers, so the next one that I will be finishing off in the next few weeks will be for the GT400, so I have taken all comments onboard. I have heard other videos with AC/DC and other heavy crap in the background, so I was trying to do some music that was toned down. Still a bit heavy huh. I like the constructive criticism .

Thanks for the nice comments. Anyone who flys a GT500 has the same comments about how awesome they are. I have been busy with a renovation project (not an aircraft) so I haven't done any more videos for awhile, so I need to get back into it. The reno project is 99% finished so I will get another one done soon, probably the GT400 next and yes, I will do one on the doors. It took me a while to get the doors done but it was worth it.

@@bartmoonen9040 Hello Bart!! The one I own is a 1994 GT500. It's a factory built Quicksilver.... I'm about to get it totally restored as well... It comes with a Grey Head Rotax 582. I'm very interested in how you manufactured those amazing clear doors.... What kind of materials as well... And if you can make me a pair which I assume you have the Jig, I'll buy a pair from you immediately!! 🤩 Unfortunately Quicksilver Manufacturing went out of business... Yet parts are still available.... Which I'm glad... But who knows for how long... hmmmmm 🤔

@@watchfuleye5193 The material is just Lexan but the hard bit is making the frames, which was aluminium strip which was in the shape of a crease, with cuts on each side then bent to shape and fibreglassed. Sounds simple but it wasn"t. I have most of the footage together to do the GT400 video, so once I get it done I will do the next one on the doors. You are right, it is a shame that QS went under, so I wish someone would buy the QS IT and start making kits again, I am still getting requests for serious prospective buyers of the QS product. Bever is doing a good job with the parts that he bought at auction, but they will run out eventually.

Is this group still active? I would appreciate more information on the GT500, Can the engine be supplied with injection? what is the pilot requirement for recreational flight in far north Queensland, what is the average fuel burn per hour and fuel type & capacity? I have lots more questions, Thanks and Seasons greetings... There is an Airport here at Mareeba as well as a couple of private strips...

Thanks to all of the subscribers and the comments, I have been busy on another project, so apologies for the lack of a follow up video. I am working on Part 2 at the moment with the GT400 which I should have done soon. The GT500’s are still available in limited numbers, so email me if you are interested. Been flying this easy to fly bestie for over 10 years and still loving it.

You're welcome I built your plane not the nuts and bolts all the spars the struts the sales Quicksilver aircraft before I took the back seat out of the GT500 made it a crop dusting plane and then they sold it to the Columbian for there coffee plants yeah ok
