The fact that you lose points when you lose, no matter if you carried the entire team makes this mode dead to me.

My complaint was on the progression system of the game mode. They should add a rank shield like they did with ranked so that you cannot lose a division.

The TVP is absolutely sick in this gamemode since you can reduce the reload time of the magazine by 60% with your role skill. This essentially means you can get a DPM of anywhere near 7000.

Another issue is that its made the hulldown meta even worse. EVERYONE is playing hulldown heavies aside from the 1 light per team... so if the only tier Xs you have are say, a Leopard, Bat-Chat, Badger etc etc, you are effectively locked out of playing the mode.

I grinded for 4 weeks to get the Kpz 50t at silver (55% winrate in randoms). It's definitely the most infuriating mode I've ever had to play. It's so team dependent as so many at the lower ranks have no idea what tanks to pick or where to go. Also, because it's 7 vs 7, if u have one bad player, then it's almost a guaranteed loss. Ranked was better than this mode in my opinion. The constant 7-0 blowouts and 2 minute games make it extremely boring and unfulfilled as well.

I have only 2 reasons to why i decided to play onslaught and it is to train up my crews and get those free crew books, boosters and improved equipment's

I have about 53.5 % WR and I quite enjoyed playing the game mode just to complete the weekly missions without bothering to reach even Silver. The rewards were nice, it didn't feel too grindy and it was an interesting switch towards a really competitive environment which really made me think about the game a lot different.

I tried to go for Silver to get Charlemagne tank, but the best I could do was Bronze B division, so I decided only to complete personal missions and get bond hardening and quit the mode after.

No bad teams ????? Every time, just before i rank up, i loose 10 - 15 games in a row with 5 - 6 teammates doing 0 or one shot of damage the hole game. How can anyone carry that ???? That made me quit the game mode.

All the gimmicks would actually be fine if the average player could actually get an average score without grinding their arse off. Feels like 70% of the people are stuck in Iron and Bronze

My issue is that the gaming experience is not consistent, you are only as successful as your team is. It took me 2 weeks of non stop playing to grind from iron to silver then back to bronze, again to silver and now i'm back to bronze D after 6-700 battle. I understand the mechanics and trying to play the tanks which i'm the most use for my team. Most of these battles I did not even enjoy, it was a sweaty grind, but I really wanted to be able to unlock the shop. Still, the issue is despite the ranking system this is just another randoms but now with the shop you HAVE TO make a progress and this is leading to a lot of frustration and a very toxic mindset.

The most toxic and frustrating modes in WoT. When you are average, around 50% WR player, trying to advance is a constant frustration. There should be a league cap where when you advance to higher league you can't be relegated.

honestly, i just wish wg made that gamemode without a ranked system so many new things to try out in this gamemode, powerful unique abilities on niche tanks, reworked maps that look like they would straight up fix many issues with their regular versions, changed mechanics... its just super frustrating to see, being denied fresh gameplay with your favorite tank simply because its ranked and its not top meta is just sad

In my case I am so stressed out trying to get better at the game, fighting against players and the game itself, completing the daily missions, trying to complete the campaigns, battle passes, participating in the events (by the way the only one I like is Mirny) and collecting tokens in the streams that this feels more like a full time job plus overtime than a game (A very expensive one.) Personally after all that I have said I don't feel like breaking my head and adding stress by learning and participating in a competitive mode. I think (I may be wrong) that what the players want the most is a better game and that is what the only thing we are not getting.

I was really enjoying this game mode but as soon as you have players that are at a 2k to low 4K rating in rentals of tier 10s you just loose all your credits and drop in rank constantly. If they wanted a competitive end game content and or mode they should make these modes have Skill Based Match Making . And have the random Q keep the non SBMM.

never thought id say this....but give me ranked back. was alright playing for a t9 reward tank along with all th other rewards. bnever played onslaught and never will iwant to play WoT, not a funky weird version of it

I would love to have the tank select in the first secounds bevore it starts in the normal matches. That would change a lot of frustraiting map rotations and increase player fun

I do not play Onslaught because I have low WR and am mostly a loser in WoT.

I had a lot of fun in onslaught. The modifiers felt really fresh and the small teams meant that wolf packs actually worked again. The problem is that solo queue is unbelievably frustrating.

I got 15 losses in OnSlaught in a row right after qualification, despite having 61+ % winrate in random queue and playing since 2012. And such lose streaks(4+ in a row) is very common in this mode, very frustrating.

Amazing you made LT works, but from my experience if 1 team had LT and other did not, than LT lost about 8/10. It feels that the only things that mattered was (in rough order) high DPM, high HP, big alpha and on a distant 4 place armour, as everyone was spamming gold anyway. So in practice only few tanks, mostly faster HT were usefull. Myself I finally got to silver by using AMX 54 and vz 55. But that was soulcrushing experience.

After 249 batlles of pain and 53 % win rate solo i got the silver .got kpz ,3D styles. Concept 1b grinded in ranked.

Qickybaby I've been playing WOT since late 2013 or early 2014. When I started playing I was partially blind in my Rt. eye & could barely move my Rt arm, hand & fingers. I improved physically somewhat & began to play the Random, Encounter & Stronghold battles with a clan (941St Reg), who coached me, a became a moderately good player, but not an excellent. I do play frontline & battle pass but onslaught or ranked are too fast paced for me due to the amount of nerve damage I have still on my Rt side & lack of dexterity in my hands & fingers! I really enjoyed the older versions of WOTs where the meta was not as fast paced & the tanks were more historical! I'm 72 now, a former US Army Ranger sniper & command NCO & this game was great for my PTSD because of the clansman-ship & team play in a war type setting, shoot opponents & being competitive again. I thank you Content Provider like yourself, Jingles, Claus Kellerman & Skil, & others who also helped me enjoy this game!

11:20 you made a point about a different ver of WoT but its important to remember that in any team based competitive game with some form of elo based MM is that in every game you are in, you are the constant. If you are losing often, make sure you look at your constant in your equation and see what you are doing that can improve the outcome.

Really wanted to get kpz and concept for years now. I have yet to play a single onslaught round as this mode is such a disaster

I just wanted access to the Onslaught bond shop. I ground out the qualifiers and played a few games thinking I was making progress. I confused the two kinds of points and after awhile realized I had fallen below where I was after the qualification round. At that point it was obvious that I was not going to get to the gold rank to unlock the 114 SP (the only tank I didn't have already) and that was it for me.

Hey QB, big fan first of all, thank you for everything you share with us, i have been following and enjoying your content for years and it's been great, let me tell you my experience with Onslaught.. I have been playing wot for almost 10 years and i consider myself a fairly average player, not the best but certainly not the worst either, on occasion i am able to carry my team to victory but far from every game, i would say that about 60% of my games i am in top 3 on my team in onslaught, i have been trying to climb my way to silver rank so i could get access to the silver shop and buy the Concept 1B and the Kpz 50 t with the bonds i have been saving up, i have played 2367 battles in onslaught and i haven't been able to reach silver, my highest score was 970 points then i hit a losing streak "again" with one bad team after another and i ended up with 727 at the end of the season, this gamemode is fun and i do like it but the point system frustrates the hell out of me, i don't claim to be the best wot player but i should at least be able to reach silver rank in onslaught after investing i don't know how many hours grinding battles, if you can't carry your team in every battle then in my experience it is impossible for an Average player to progress in Onslaught. it doesn't matter if you are a really good player, if you get a bad team you are going to lose points and winning those points back are way to difficult for an average player in my experience. i don't know if i will be playing the last season as hard as this one but i'll give it a try and hope wargaming adjust the level of difficulty in progression so us Average Joes have a chance to enjoy the game and it's contents. best regards Michael

Great video. Thanks for clearing up so many assumptions I had about this mode. I saw the description and thought it looks a lot like those clan battles I tried a few years back, which really only seemed fun when tryharding (like PvP in MMORPGs). It does seem less frustrating and more like fresh air, but I think 'alienating' hit the spot for me as well. I will probably try it, but I can also see myself not pursuing it frequently instead of the default 15v15. Simply having 15v15 in a Ranked Style mode would probably be a huge game changer. Just imagine playing both sides (so double the usual match length) and potentially being allowed to change tanks (maybe like in the 30v30 mode) after the first round.

Hi QB. Really good video by the way, I found it interesting and illuminating. I would class myself as a casual player and I certainly struggled with Onslaught. One of the issues I found was for casual players like myself I just don't have a big library of tier 10 tanks yet. For example I don't have a S.Conq or a 60TP or a TVP. All of which are good tanks in this mode. It takes time for casual players to grind Tier 10's ultimately. As a result while I did have some good games in my Mino and E100 I found myself punished quite harshly where I found not even get out of Bronze. Also taking some like 11-12 loses in a row was quite common and the lose of points from such loses extremely punishing and demoralising. I don't pretend to be a good player. My personal goal would be just to get to silver so I could get a Kpz 50t or a Concept B. So I set a what I thought to be a reasonable goal for my game play level. In the end as you say in your vid I didn't feel it was worth it in the end. Sorry for the wall of text, I hope it is helpful to you. Many thanks.

I was really hoping the rejigged Onslaught would be more appealing to me as a pretty casual but still good WOT player and my hopes of finally owning a Proto would be realised, but those hopes were soon dashed. I will put the time in, but I hold no illusion that I'll be getting that tank. If ever in this game mode. I have 50,000 bonds to use on tanks and I just can't get to them!

Well glad my average ass could help someone rank up. For every 3-4 game win streak, I would have an equal lose streak. Frustrating.

Im older&casual player and im totally pissed off i cant get my hand on those tanks in 15vs15. I have no ambition and time to play all of this special events. its actually making me play less 15vs15, since there is flood of all this new tanks.

My biggest complaint is that it was only available in the evenings, and I work during those hours. The ceasefire was a terrible decision.

Had a streak with stupid teams and lost 8 games in a row and dropped a division for the 2nd time in the progress. Didn’t touch Onslaught after that. So a shield per division might be something to consider.

The reason I hate the game mode and stopped playing is cuz losses are too punishing I think. I'm a slightly above average player and lost something like 400 points in a few days. I think it took me like a week to gain the points and then lost em all so quickly. Maybe I'm being pig headed but if an above average player can't progress and you have to be mega good and able to play 1v7 then something is off

It was first fun but quickly frustrating experience. Climbing and falling even deeper. After several dozens battles decided it’s not worth it.

Saying that everybody gets bad teams is 100% wrong. Unless you are able to rank out of low divisions immediately, you get stuck with players that have no clue how to play. Bad players dont get out of lower ranks. So you basically have to get into upper ranks on day one or you are in for a really bad grind.

The problem that I have with onslaught is that you loose so much points even though you played well and thats just frustrating in any means. When you get punished even though you made the best out of the game.

QB once more you hit the nail. I’m a veteran player returning just a months ago to the game, and oh boy the journey has been pretty hard just talking about the normal queue. On this mode, it’s overwhelming all the new stuff you have to learn to be successful. Plus, the overall regards aren’t meant for casual players not only for the fact they have a huge cost in bonds but also because the grinding is crazy for a normal player who wants to get fun and the best out of it with a lot of pressure every battle from the teams yelling at you for taking a bad decision whereas you don’t even know the map, modifiers, etc

A competitive game mode in a game with 25% rng factor & autoaim sounds pretty fair. I know they changed some game options, but penetration & damage is still 25%. I tried it it in Jan when they launched it and stopped playing it after 1 day. The mode feels like an endless painful grind. Had no fun at all.

I was in Bronze A and so close to silver and getting the 2 tanks in silver... but after a 18 match losing streak and dropping back into Iron, I stopped playing this mode all together, The scoring system is the biggest problem with this mode.

The real problem is the abilities. Being more accurate and having more health is incredible since it massively reduces rng during a direct fight.

The balance between loose/win points is crazy! I managed to get 800 points in like 4 hours of play, and than in 15minutes a was again down to 550....

I literally grinded for 4 h straight with a buddy of mine from 650 to 1000 points just to get the Kpz 50 t and I kinda hated it all the way just so i can get that reward tank , without someone that you can communicate with it’s very hard to grow in this game mode

There needs to be a way where you can gain points on a loss, sometimes ive done way better but just had a team that melts faster, yes you lose less if you do well but the fact you always lose points is tiring

I miss ranked. In that mode it had locks if you got to a certain point, and even if you lose, if you carried the team you could still either stay put, or gain a chevron. In Onslaught, only winning matters, and you could very quickly drop multiple divisions in a very short period. I liked the 10v10 in Ranked, but the 7v7 in Onslaught is also fine.

It took me the entire duration of the event to get silver, and i think i lost a part of my humanity, after i bought the kpz i didn't feel anything, i think i am dead inside .

Just like you said, I wasn't able to carry my team nor did I have acces to the good/OP tanks, so I was unable to even progress out of the iron rank. Even when I'd had a good run of games, two bad ones and I was back where I started the hour before. At least I got all the weeklies done so I did get something out of it, but I would really have liked to reach silver and get acces to the shop there. Very frustrating experience unfortunately.

I love picking tanks for the map. It's the best part of Onslaught!

In wot blitz at the start from tier1 to 4 are battles of 5v5 which smaller maps then normal wot blits tier10 battles,at tier5 to10 its 7v7 which small maps compared to normal wot

After seeing super conqueror after super conqueror and same thing with the Swedish hull down heavy tanks. I’m just happy that I got all of the challenges done

I was playing in the Asia server the problem for me is how ELO works you did not get the same points as another player on the team even if you were the one who gave a chance for the team to win (for example you alone bought time from 3 enemy tanks but died) this makes the player play for points more than play for a win I already gave feedback on this a long time ago since rank mode was introduced but this still happens and in Asia 7 vs 7 was the only way you could climb up to a high rank and only a player with a clan party could do it (meeting the same enemy team 4-5 times is normal)

Didn't try this game mode at all, but I do like the 30v30 grand battles, but I don't understand are they very rare or almost nonexistent

I stopped to this mode after I qualified myself. I totally agreed with your criticism. This was the reason that I missed the event completely. I don't have so much time to grind something what is not worth compared with the invested time.

Both seasons finished in bronze because i coudln't loose less, earning 49 in couple of games then starting to loose -36 games made me realise that i had to stop or i might have a hearthattack or a brainbleed for getting ultra high blood pressure. Got my bonds and the shield from weeklies.

I played with 2 scouts teams, teams with 5 meds and so on... Very frustrating mode. My goal was silver for the KPz and Concept B, toxic af

Well, I managed to get to Bronze rank. I took your advice to play last week (or last week and a half). Sure I would like to get higher up (because as you said rewards are great but expensive), but it was like one step forward two steps back....and of course it depends on team (only my subjective opinion)...and yes I will play next Onslaught if nothing because I get a lot of bonds, I managed to finish daily tasks with ease.

The last week of this mode I actually meet people that throw the game out of frustration

I believe the last iteration of Ranked was better, not least from a progression point of view.

the random matchmaking effect in 1 season can affect your WR by even few percent, so climbing through the ranks requires you to get more points when winning then losing points when losing. Lights have subpar wr but are very easy to lose only few points on lost games

Great topic QB. I want to refine the discussion a little bit. Does a diverse number of game modes matter if the base player population is not dwindling? For example, the division one had multiple game modes to choose from under the same title. Pve players, pvp players, story loving players, survival players all had one or sometimes many variations of their desired style of gameplay available and you’d see streamers that not only featured the division game but specialized in say survival mode or dark zone pvp, pve top tier team missions, etc. I think they were able to collect and keep more players with the diversity of options. One thing the player base however did not stand for and was very vocal about was pay to win. There were cosmetic micro transactions, and you had to purchase the dlc for survival mode, therefore the development was funded. However the steps wg has taken since I’ve been back have imho been the best and worst of times for wot. On the one hand there is more training and support for people who are not naturals at the game but love it , to help them get better. This is better than before when it was sink or swim or worse yet you were locked in some preschool kiddie pool mode until you ranked up. Insulting. But on the negative and increasingly disheartening side the number of play to win factors has seemed to be let off the chain to roam freely, destroying the enfranchisement of players to an alarming degree. This may be the component that wg will look back on as the last bad decision they made before the end if the ship is not course corrected, the greed rudder not trimmed, the integrity of the game and the respect for players participation and cash investment is not once again reconciled instead of wg just having an affair with the latter and ignoring their loyal friends back home. I want wg and war thunder to both thrive. I’m ready to pay for new content. I welcome diverse play mode options, leagues, story mode campaigns, weekly community moderator streams to celebrate players and the game. I hope wg finds their heart again like the green grinch in whoville and respects the time and participation of the players, streamers, and devs who have made them what they are today. My proposal is to change the profit model. Base game is free, each mode is a paid dlc, micro transactions are cosmetic only. Sponsor and promote league play in STEM schools in each capital city of every country. FIFA in armor basically. Competitive players have a place to swim, casual players have their own pool. Celebrate the players publicly. My two cents, your mileage may vary, take it or leave it my feelings won’t be hurt. Peace.

As a slightly above avg f2p player, I love onslaught. It took me about 50 games to learn it, but I now have a higher win rate in it than randoms. I find the teamwork that can be achieved at the higher ranks super rewarding. That being said I’ve played the game for 10 years and understand how the mode is not friendly for beginners/intermediate f2p players.

So did the CC preferential MM and RNG help you get that high?

I kinda of enjoy it, but its frustrating to lose a pile of points on a loss where you feel like you did pretty well. I also have a limited list of Tier X tanks to pick from which hurts as well.

Although I don’t play wot anymore, I’m in university right now and when I’m writing my essays or doing some research I tend to have a quickybaby stream on the side. I had stop what I was doing for a few minutes during the first game he showed in the video, and watch it because it was a entertaining/exhilarating game to watch. All in all, just wanted to say I was there haha! Thanks for the videos and stream qb I’ve been watching for 10 years now I’ve literally grown up watching you!

i loved onslaught. it took me a while to figure it out and i never progressed passed silver but that is way more fun for me then the random queue (48% win rate, 10,000 battles, old acount. play 1 year on, 3 off). it actually ruined randoms for me becuase guys being more focused on team play in onslaught was super rewarding for me and reminded me of teir 6 strongholds from a few years ago which was my favorite part of the game. i basically only played onslaught for the last two weeks after just updating the game for the first time in 3 or 4 years. the early part of the battle determining the outcome so quickly made it super frantic and exciting and i happened to have some meta tanks like stb 1 and tvp50/51, wz5a. I almost have the t100lt so im bummed after seeing this haha but it was a foreign to me as the random queue, I had no idea about the bz rocket tanks and how camo had become super meta since the last time i played so the learning curve was massive for me regardless. all my lights need new equipment once i realized how important exhuast was. i was shocked the first time i got shot by a char 75.

I enjoy a game or two now and then but you need to spend so many games to slowly climb up that it is just not worth it to me. I just have an hour or two a week for a few games so this feels too much like a grind if you want to climb

I gave up on this game mode after a battle or two. The changes from Random Battle made me feel like it was a different game. I was not bothered though, just went back to Random.

The reason this version of ranked isnt as good as the previous, is that there is not really any rewards anymore....

I only have non meta tanks so it’s tough (jpze100 amx30b, t57, t110e5, kranvagn) but I like the mode itself the games are fun and would be more fun if the pressure of being ranked wasn’t applied

The way you play in this gamemode is so damn stupid. Driving around dropping artillery on tanks wow so cool... How can this be ''ranked'' i dont get it. Strategy is to RUN AWAY from the fight to collect arty drops and to drop on tanks with 100% accuracy from literally any point of the map... what a joke.

I joined WoT in 2015 but didn't start playing seriously until 2020. Never played ranked just assumed i wasn't good enough, but was considering trying Onslaught. Might give it a miss as well.

climbing the onslaught is almost impossible. for FTP users.. I only play it to get the weekly mission done so I can get some bonds, credits and goods.. as well as getting experiences to train crews for the new tier x tanks

I will definitely play again, but I do wish that the milestones were shorter instead of the first one being cause 20k dmg make it increments of 5k damage that would motivate me to play more.

making standardised tanks based top performing catagories so everyone can play would give the player base help, also enable less experienced without specific top tier tanks to play and show their skill (*for better or worse) & would enable people to practice within their preferred roles, it would lower the uniqueness and allow 1 for 1 matching of teams

Once I stopped trying hard to progress I actually started to enjoy Onslaught. It's great for doing daily missions and leveling tanks. I also like the improved accuracy as I can now have fun with tanks like the BZ75.

I don't have time or the stamina for this, but I play for the weekly rewards that are ok enough. And as so many others have said it's a pain to lose points even when playing really well. I'm not that masochistic.

I was hoping for it to be better than ranked. But I personally feel it is pretty much the same grind all over again, but now with a bit different rules...

I've found that I make good credits playing onslaught. I'll run the premium consumables but I don't fire gold. I only make it to Iron A or bronze E maybe, but I get the weekly rewards and a bunch of credits.

I tried quite hard this season to get to silver and pick the tanks from the shop and I failed miserably. Never again playing this mode if they don't make big changes on it
