Hi, in this video I am going to show you how to prepare quiet book pages before binding.
The size if the pages 20 cm x 20 cm.
The thickness of the polyester batting I use is about 1 cm.

Hi, I do not have a sewing machine. I am planning to make a quiet book by stitching it all with hand. Can I stitch the felt onto fabric first and then iron the interfacing on it? If I iron the interfacing first, it becomes difficult to hand stitch the felt designs.

Hi, I have never stitched the Quiet Book with hand, so, had no experience. But theoretically, I suspect you can do that. Please note, if you use a polyester felt do not use too high temperature when ironing the interfacing on the page, because the felt can melt under the high temperature. Anyway you need to try, take a piece of fabric and felt and try to attach the interfacing on it. Good luck! :)

How come the book pages don't fray since you haven't cut them using pinking shears? Also, what type of fabric do you use for the pages?

I use an interfacing to stiffen cotton fabric, and it also a good way to keep fabric from fraying.

emem smsm hi! Zebra is printed cotton fabric. Frog is an appliqué made from felt. 😃

hi can I ask u ..why we should sew the batting to the pages manually? can I sew the batting by sewing machine ? then put the binding stripes? thank u in advance 💕

Aisha Dania Hi! Sure, you can, but when you sew it manualy you have full controll in joining the batting and the page together. By sewing with the machine the batting or the bottom page can be displaced. I advice you to sew it manually 😁

charm espinola Hi! Ironing can help to make the batting thinner, but use a damp cloth 😃

Only my Mini Books are completely made of felt. Other books, like the one in this video, are made of cotton fabric, and I still use this binding method.
