Julia Hynes I haven't tried it on flannel backing. I do think it should work the same. I recommend that you give your self a little bit more room like 1 1/4 when your cutting the outside back fabric. I think flannel is a little bit thicker to fold over and maybe an extra 1/4 or 1/8 would give you more space to fold you fabric over. I will try to find some flannel and try it on a little swatch and let you know but I do think that thicker fabrics will just need a little bit more fabric on the back to fold over nicely than the 1 inch on regular cotton fabric.
@carolgrosz4359
@carolgrosz4359 7 жыл бұрын
I leave a 2 inch border with flannel. It makes a one inch binding which is better. I have also left a 3 inch border with flannel for the best binding for the thickness of flannel front and back. That makes a 1.5 inch binding. I liked the tutorial very much.

Lorena, I have just finished one of the quilts intended as Christmas gifts this year, and am now relaxing for the evening. I wanted to thank you for posting your video, this method is so much easier than, making yards and yards of binding, then _fingers crossed_ joining up the two ends. Since I only have 2 days out of the week that I can do my quilting, this is a time saver as well. Thanks again, p.s. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year.

I am a novice quilter and never really sewed anything. I embroidered a pre-printed baby quilt which took me 8 months to complete. I wanted to give the quilt to my 1 year old great niece for Christmas and it was Christmas Eve and I didn't know how to finish it. I went on KZfaq to find away how to do the backing and I found your video. I use this technique and I finished it in no time. The finished quilt came out beautiful! I actually used flannel as the backing. Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm working on my 2nd quilt and will used this technique to finish that one too.

Good job...I thought of doing this today and then found your video...I'm a beginner quilter...I don't know why there usually is a "binding" ...this works! Love your glue trick!

Hello! Wow is all I can say. The only thing stopping me from starting another quilt is the binding... Will be starting this soon using your fab technique. Great instructions and visuals! Take care!

Thank you so much for this! I am a beginner and have only made rag quilts because I was intimidated by binding. I am making a baby quilt for my first grandchild and will use this method! Can't wait to finish it! Also, thanks for completing the entire square on camera for us beginners. Most videos show you how to do it, then finish the steps off camera.

Thank you so much for showing me this method... I need to make quick panels to top off a craft im working on. Im not quite a skilled sewer. I had really great results with this method. The glue stick, i never would have thought of that. Im going to use it all the time now. Folding corners has also been stumping me. This answered all of my questions. I've just made the cutest panel in no time. THANKS TO YOU :D

I was about to ask about the glue and then saw the response in comments. I'm brand new to quilting, just trying to make a small wall hanging. Thank you Lorena for this tutorial....the binding was the part I was puzzling over....I'm a bit lazy, felt a bit intimidated as well, and figured there had to be an easier way to do it. There it is!!!! Thanks you again!!!
