Completely true....but its one of those peanut butter & jelly things, where something food or great is improved by being paired with something worthwhile by its lonesome too. Soul Bossa Nova is a great piece of work. It just gets an extra kick by being the Austin Powers theme 😊

On piano was Lalo Schifrin, who became a composer and conductor himself! He learned from Quincy Jones.

Great comment. Lalo Schifrin composed the soundtrack for the Big Brawl, and the "Whistling Theme" has always been one of my favorites.

Schiffrin studied piano since he was 6 y.o. with Daniel Barenboim's father. Quincy Jones was born a year later than L.S., they have, in any case, parallel trajectories; he came to Buenos Aires in 1956 as part of Dizzy Gillespie's band and here they both meet Schiffrin who has already been part of the jazz scene in Paris, after that encounter he wrote for Gillespie and became part of his band and musical director, then moved to Hollywood to start his collabs in movies and TV shows, Jones did that one year later.

@@jnadle1 Hmmm....nope, Sciffrin's first Hollywood work (he'd already done several film scores in Argentina) was Rhino! and Jones was The Pawnbroker, he wrote music for a swedish film before.
