​@JacquelineUnderwood The knight goes one on the short and two on the long (you don't include its starting square or the turning square. There are other things you've forgotten, like castling, en passant, and il Vaticano. In order, castling is when the king moves to the opposite side of the castling rook by moving two spaces king-side or queen-side. This could only happen when the king is not in check nor is moving through check. En passant is when a player takes an opponent's pawn with a pawn after it moves two spaces forward and the pawns are next to each other. Il Vaticano is when a player has both bishops surrounding two opposing pawns in any file or rank (vertical or horizontal parallels of the board respectively). The bishops change positions and take both pawns.
