Thank you Quinn. It really works well when synchronized with foot work.

I'm gonna think of it as the clutch 'pop up' thing.

It sound like in addition to popping clutch you are also adding corresponding throttle.
@PoliceMotorTraining
@PoliceMotorTraining Жыл бұрын
It depends. The throttle isn't necessary unless I feel the "pop" isn't providing the requisite snap I'm looking for. Most times the rpm's are high enough that I don't mess with throttle. The KEY to this is the 2mm of clutch engagement we move the lever to put more power to the rear. Whatever that does to the rpm, adjust as desired.

Is your bike stock ground clearance, or did you move pegs up?

Really good hearing from you and learning. Msf teaches four fingers and police/bmw teaches two fingers. I’ve always split the difference haha and used three. Can you explain how you don’t burn your clutch? With this bike, I find it hard to practice for long times. She either overheats or starts smelling. I know you practice and ride alot harder than I do but I’m worse on the dry clutch somehow. Thanks!

Brent- The key to BMW dry clutch is SMOOTH riding, not too much on/off with the throttle and brakes. I include brakes as a contributing factor because when you aggressively stab at the brakes, it requires an equally aggressive input to get moving again. Think of BMW riding less "cut and thrust" and more "carry momentum." I can ride a Harley/Honda/Kawi and be much more aggressive with the controls (not necessarily faster) but when I get fatigued/sloppy/aggressive with the BMW it just doesn't like it and the bike gets hot and the clutch cooks. So slow down, settle your mind a bit, and FLOW rather than hammer through the pattern. Your times will still be similar (if not faster) and the bike will calm down and respond better.

How do you hit full lock when you want to? I will only hit full lock sometimes even in 18' patterns.
@PoliceMotorTraining
@PoliceMotorTraining 2 жыл бұрын
Brent- Full lock has as much to do with your riding position on the motorcycle as the riding situation you find yourself in. In other words, if you try and go "full lock" to snap the bike position over in a given pattern as you enter, but your weight is not properly centered over the bike, you will either: 1) fall off the the bike in the opposite direction of your turning movement. 2) Be unable to recover the full-lock maneuver fast enough to stay inside the pattern you are trying to give yourself more room in. Practice SLOW straight up-and-down, Balance Ball technique and work on full-lock from side to side (2 mph). Make SURE our weight is up OVER the bike like I show in these videos (If you are sitting back your movements will be too slow and your weight will become too impacted by the direction change). Little by little you will feel how the steering plays with both the motorcycle AND your body weight. Over time you will begin to be able to pick up your speed and still momentarily make a full-lock movement. Just remember- We are not LIVING in this full-lock position, just making a quick "snap" of the bars to improve track position for a given section. Let me know if this didn't make sense, I have yet to get my morning coffee!
