These are the next generation of doctors who will form the backbone of any future service and the UK is literally gifting them to other countries by treating them in such an intolerable way. The lack of long term strategy is shocking.

I think this kind of videos should also be seen by those who are decision-makers in NHS.. THIS is not normal. Doctors shouldn’t be going through this.

Since I have learned how to save, invest, and put my money to work to increase my income, I am not worried of losing my job as an RN (registered nurse) or leaving my employment. I want freedom to live my life as I see fit, not just financial gain.

I have so much respect for you, guys! I see on the ward how hard the doctors work, running after the consultants ( max 2hrs on the ward- seeing patients and giving advice on what should be done), and being always there for the patients. Thank you for being SUPERSTARS 🌟🌟🌟

Thank you Helena for being so brave by being fully transparent about your journey and for vocalizing the vulnerability doctors are facing with respect to the workload. I know it must have been extremely hard making the decision to no longer pursue medicine im on the same sentiment. Anyways goodluck💚 youre going to be amazing in no matter what you decide to pursue

I felt the same, I hated going to work everyday because it's so demanding. I've never enjoyed it and I've also changed a lot in a negative way, I was(am)often nervous and impatient, which is not normal for me. After a few months I decided to switch from internal medicine to anesthesiology(mostly because it's simply not as chaotic bcs you only have one patient at a time in the OR), starting in 2 months. But luckily I live in Germany and there's really lots of options here. In the UK unfortunately one can only do their training in the NHS and yes, I could definitely not imagine sticking up with it.

Hey kenji. Great video as always. I've also just left - recent video on my channel. It's not easy and think you are right that the profession can sometimes be glorified online. This isn't deliberate but when people ask how things are you don't want to let them know how much things are difficult, amongst other reasons. Would be great to connect if you fancied a collaboration. Love your stuff and work ethic - banging out quality content all the time whilst being an F1. Respect. Bw Dan

I agree practice in the UK is terrible. Low pay and no prestige as is in America. Observing from America, why would anyone go on strike like in the UK. Unthinkable here. Dermatologists in America can easily make $600,000 to $1,000,000 a year and live a comfortable and easy life with a good work-life balance, making it very hard to enter in the States. When we are Specialist Attending doctors or "consultants" in America life is great. The highest pay in the world and you are the boss because it is a private dominated model and not a socialized health care system which is terrible for patients and doctors. I hated residency too but willed through it as Americans do. As an orthopedic surgery resident in America at a top ten prestigious hospital, some weeks worked 132 out of 168 hours.

Not so good for regular american residents though, that enormous salary come from their pockets. Feels great to receive that paycheck knowing it costed someone a house.
