Just to clarify, the 1m cable I used in this video came with my iPhone 12. It's a USB-C to Lightning cable, not a USB-A.

It was maybe too on your face but it is so fucking true at the end of the day, I’ve always been of the line of thought that if you have a good product you don’t need to advertise it as aggressively because people would just naturally come to it. You should be skeptical about anyone paying more in advertisement than on R&D if anything because you can only get that off putting feeling of getting deceived. But I’m personally the kind of person that deliberately avoids things on ads just because they are on ads... (that said i’ve been wanting to get a ridge wallet even tho the chinese knockoffs are like $20 instead of $70+)

Can't really take other reviewers seriously anymore when some of their stuff is loaded with sponsored ads. Such a breath of fresh air not only from the unbiased point of view but your content is just loaded with so much quality and information backed by actual tests and humor. There aren't any stupid 2 minute rants in the middle of a video started with "sponsored by so and so this website is so good yadda yadda" while I'm here trying to skip to the end of the ads.

Shorter cables don’t need the same amount of emf shielding to keep data transfer integrity and the it doesn’t need as thick a wire gauge to keep down ohmic losses. The longer the wire(of the same gauge and material) the higher the resistance and the more voltage loss you will have.
@FilmerStevie3 жыл бұрын
Bryce Braxmeyer but it wouldn’t hurt to also have that on the shorter wire as well for the increased durability aspect

In my experience, cables fall apart because they get folded over 180° at the connection too many times, and because people pull on the cable to unplug it rather than the tip. I was really impressed with your testing machine thing, but thought just flopping the cable over back and forth was going too soft of them. I do really like your channel and your videos. I cannot recommend the amazon nylon braided lightning cable enough. I have gone through countless anker, apple and other cables to say the least and the nylon one from amazon is approaching three years of use which is absolutely incredible. the only issues I have had with it is lint build up on the contact points a couple of times but using a q-tip and just scrubbing it off has done the trick. It has by far been the best cable out of the range i've tried.

And id also like to see someone test aftermarket chargers with an oscilloscope for voltage ripple and v droop under load. After all IPhones are incredibly sensitive to ripple and can have Tristar (the chip on the logic board in-charge of allowing the phone to charge) fry with the slightest voltage spike.
