Amongst a plethora of hindrances to the continued thriving of the investment trust industry is this: the next generation is buying ETFs, not trusts. They are not interested in ‘star’ managers: they want low charges, specifically targeted vehicles, no stamp duty, and tight bid/offers - trusts frequently do not offer some - or any - of these qualities.
