I share bits of my personal life with everyone when it's appropriate and examine what they do. If they show signs of toxicity I immediately cut them off. And the few people who respond well I keep getting personal with them. That's how I discover real friends.

Yes a good test to see if you are on the same level or not. If not - move on - they're not your people. That's what I'm working on now with myself. So if all of us were in a room together & if we all didnt talk to each other except small talk about the weather for example, & we all left the building & returned to our littles homes. What's the point of the meeting in the first place.? Might as well stay home - talk to myself & save my money.😂 When I go out I always talk & I always love listening to other people's stories & opinions. I learn alot....on how not to live😅

After about 15 to 20 years of hard work, I did get there (success). I really achieved very substantial things in my career, what surprised me was that I encountered a form of hostility that I hadn't expected. Some call it "reverse snobbism" or just envy or jealousy. It was a shock. I am accustomed to that now and I have learned to keep most of my work accomplishments "under wraps" as it were. I am always happy when 'my students' (those who I could help and appreciated my help, and believed that my Happiness was being helpful and helping them to belive in themseves) stop me to tell me how well they did or are doing, seeing their happiness makes me Happy. Still I have also noticed, that, sometimes, this does Not work both ways and people who tell me that they are my friends, are not , I can see they Do Not Help me, or talk to others bad about me and my Happiness makes them Unhappy. I suppose the trick is in finding out as quick as possible in which of these two categories do the people you know fall😉 and I also have a quote which helped me to feel better. When people ( some of them ' my friends' or people who I helped) gaslighted me , or like in your case we're not happy of your success/ happiness . 'Never allow the opinions of others to be the measure of your success' It Worked for me! I hope it helps you too.

First sentence. Years ago, someone in our group did exactly what you said. He intentionally told each person in our group a different lie. He waited to hear if any of the lies circulated in our group. I'm the only one who kept his mouth shut. He came to me weeks later and revealed what he had done. While we never were close friends we worked together well and were able to "maneuver"/anticipate a couple peoples' actions because we had an insight into their nature. Just so happened his dad was a Special Agent in Charge of a FBI field office. I should have asked if his dad taught him that "tactic"!

@@legallyredone5561I understand what you mean. It all sounds logical but lots of it sounds like we should be on our guard all the time. That’s not freedom. Or love. Instead of this, I want to focus on learning from truly, deep loving people who have become Saints. One of them is St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Called the little flower. Her device was to do little things with greatness. She truly loved Jesus. Learning about her has helped me immensely. Praying in general is the most powerful thing that can help us in all our struggles. God is omnipotent. Never doubt. To listen to quotes like this will never truly deepen our faith in Our Lord, He whom is always trying to reach out to us to help us. I’ve never in my life been helped like I’ve been helped from God. Thanks to Him I got a job, I got up on my feet after a severe fall, I could forgive and find so much peace. Things are not easier as a Christian, but knowing God is with us always, makes us not be afraid. Instead, loving deeply. Look up a song named “Be not Afraid”, it is beautiful and encouraging. God will lead the way, if you pray and listen carefully. May God bless you and keep you ❤
