Alhamdulillah

Lecture 12 Surah Ra’ad and Surah Ibrahim. • Makki surah. Surah Ra’ad (lightning). • V.12. It is He who shows you lightening, [causing] fear and aspiration, and generates the heavy clouds. • V.13. and the thunder exalts [Allah] with praise of Him - and the angels [as well] from fear of Him - and He sends thunderbolts and strikes there with whom He wills while they dispute about Allah; and He is severe in assault. • Thowheed, risalah, aakhira is the theme here. • Responds to misconception of idolaters. • v.2. It is Allah who erected the heavens without pillars that you [can] see; then He established Himself above the Throne and made subject the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. He arranges [each] matter; He details the signs that you may, of the meeting with your Lord, be certain. • V.3. and it is He who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains and rivers; and from all of the fruits He made therein two mates; He causes the night to cover the day. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. • V.4. And within the land are neighboring plots and gardens of grapevines and crops and palm trees, [growing] several from a root or otherwise, watered with one water; but We make some of them exceed others in [quality of] fruit. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason. • V.5. And if you are astonished, [O Muhammad] - then astonishing is their saying, "When we are dust, will we indeed be [brought] into a new creation?" Those are the ones who have disbelieved in their Lord, and those will have shackles upon their necks, and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally. • V.11. For him [i.e., each one] are successive [angels] before and behind him who protect him by the decree of Allah. Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron. • Quran praises the people of intellect. • Real intelligence is the spiritual one, i.e. knowing the creator. • Characteristics of believers from v.19 onwards. • They believe in Allah • They fulfill the convents of Allah. • They are good to their family • They fear their lord. • They are waiting for the day of reckoning • They are patient. • They pray regularly. • They spend what Allah has given them in public and secret. • They respond to evil with good. • For the people of this above mentioned qualities they have the eternal abode.v.23. Gardens of perpetual residence; they will enter them with whoever were righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate, [saying], v.24. "Peace [i.e., security] be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home." • V.26. Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except [brief] enjoyment. • V.28.Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." • V.39. Allah eliminates what He wills or confirms, and with Him is the Mother of the Book. • V.43. and those who have disbelieved say, "You are not a messenger." Say, [O Muhammad], "Sufficient is Allah as Witness between me and you, and [the witness of] whoever has knowledge of the Scripture. Surah Ibrahim • Makki surah. • Thowheed, risalah, aakhira is the main theme. • v.4.And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. • V.7. and [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, my punishment is severe.' " • V.10. their messengers said, "Can there be doubt about Allah, Creator of the heavens and earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays you [i.e., your death] for a specified term." They said, "You are not but men like us who wish to avert us from what our fathers were worshipping. So bring us a clear authority [i.e., evidence]." • The proof for Allah’s existence is evident. • V.10-14. the reality of prophets being mocked and the patience of the prophets, they put their trust in Allah. • Description of Day of Judgment. From v.21- onwards. • The followers being dissociated from their leaders. • The kuthbah of shaithan. • V.22. and Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, "Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment. • V.23. And those who believed and did righteous deeds will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein by permission of their Lord; and their greeting therein will be, "Peace!" • V.24. the parable of a good tree to la ilaha illallah. • V.32-34. the blessing of Allah and if were you to count Allah’s blessing you could not. • About half page is the du’a of Ibrahim AS. V.35-41. • Description of Day of Judgment. • People asking some more time. • Allah will not fail his promise, the power and authority of Allah. الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ - "Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction. (translation from Yusuf Ali)

Listening to the Qur'an is worship. Paying attention to its meaning is also worship. Paying attention to interpretation is also at the highest stage of worship.goodluck

@EPIC MASJID Please replace "God" with "Allah" in the translation of the Quran. When we use God instead of Allah so much Brakah is lost. Uttering the name "Allah" has its own blessings. Furthermore it does not feel right nor does it feel good while reading God in the translation of the kalam of Allah. If you have to use God then please use it out side of the book of Allah.
