The olive one was already explained by the author of the book. It was a reference to how ancient authors described color using words we deemed odd like Homer calling the ocean wine colored.

About the covid thing horizantally, im pretty sure it doesnt affect you when your in that order because you are facing the persons back and as long as they face forward you wont get infected since your face is facing their like back/back of the head. Another thing, when your wearing masks the front helps you be safe and the sides are open a bit so you would most likely be in a line then like a row thing heh
