No, this is a very Latvian song created by a Latvian poet because of his love towards his Latvian capital city and music composed by a Latvian musician. You can like or love the song and the performance, but deep down in heart and soul, you'll never truly understand...

Very literal translation: Riga, my Riga, I love you, golden swallow, swing of happiness. How many harsh torments you have suffered, give me your hand to kiss. Like a sweet basin the ages hand you the sea, let your body recline in it seeking cool relief. Riga, ever upward we will rise together, I will grow along with you and all will go better for me. Riga, ever forward, throw away what is old, then I too will deny what is against us. Riga, gray-haired Riga, what you are to me: a joyous, red string that rings out above my head. A new, beautiful Riga carries me up on high like a swallow and like a swing. Riga, small box of happiness, sweet lap for ships, may your white body gleam like a flash of sunlight. Riga, my Riga, I love you, golden swallow, swing of happiness

Rīga, mana Rīga, tevi mīlu es, zelta bezdelīga, laimes šūpoles. Cik daudz skarbu moku izcietusi tu, dod man savu roku, lai to noskūpstu.

The words are from a well known Latvian poet's (Aleksandrs Čaks) poem about the capital of Latvia - Riga. He expresses how much he loves Riga. He was called the poet of Riga, he has the most poems about Riga - he wrote about every corner, everything that went on in Riga during the first part of the XX century. The words are like an anthem of Riga, it is hard for a non-poet to translate them and give them justice. His poetry would also definitely lose something if translated in English. Anyway - this is his love expressed in the best, most beautiful words possible towards his favourite city - Riga.
