Human Revolution and Mankind divided have the most beautiful soundtracks and atmosphere I have seen in video games. R.I.P.

Deus Ex was also my first Immersive Sim. Its up there as one of the greatest series to me. I thought Embracer was hopefully, but that quickly changed when I realised they were business clowns.

Its crazy how such a unique and somewhat impactful franchise is smothered by corporate clowns who have no value for true art, and pretty much no regard for anything except filling their pockets. Honestly, I'm pretty sure there are people out there who would gladly complete the franchise and give it a new life, a life it has truly deserved. There is only hope they will someday be able to obtain the IP and leave these money-draining idiots with nothing.

As a native to Czech Republic (Prague is our capital) I was really pissed off by the texts in our (czech), language were oviously from google translate. Large multimilion company was not able to pay for one native proofreader.

Michael McCann's OST for the third and fourth games have Changed my Life. This is not an overstatement or an exaggeration, but pure fact. His songs are part of my daily playlists and have inspired my books, writing, art and even spiritual expression. The first trailer for Deus Ex HR is one of the most powerful memories from my teenage years. Deus Ex will never die. It will come back augmented.

I figured this series was dead since Mankind Divided. Selling micro-transactions and tying DLC weapons to single-use-self-deleting into a single player game, and signalling to everybody that they had cut the game in half intentionally to sell more later as mission-for-cash DLC killed this franchise. Also, I played Mankind Divided twice and still barely followed the conspiracy. A shame, because I really wanted more Bob Page.

This is not corporate greed, this is sheer stupidity. This is like having a load of buildings that each used to be a great hotel, is full of great staff but you refuse to open any of the hotels for business. You make money from games studios by having them make games, not by trying to get someone else to buy up the derelict buildings to fix the years of neglect that you inflicted on them. Embracer Group wasn't greedy. They were lazy. They didn't want to cultivate their investment they just wanted to package it all up into a tranche where they just had one big bundle to get some sucker sovereign wealth fund to buy up. They could have made more money by putting these studios to work but they weren't interested in making something worth selling.

Thanks for making this video, I really don't want to lose hope on a future instalment and these kinds of videos are shedding light on our interest and desire to see a conclusion to Adam Jensen's story.

Mankind Divided was one of the greatest games I have ever played; such a sad thing that there won't be a follow up. RIP.

I just wish Mankind Divided didn't end with what essentially amounts to a "To Be Continued". Deus Ex and it's fans deserved better than that. We never asked for this. 😔

Deus Ex Human Revolution and by extension, Mankind Divided, were DEFINITELY the main inspiration for Cyberpunks gameplay.

I'm not really a fan of FPS games. Not into Battlefield, Call of Duty ,Overwatch or Halo. But when I played Deus Ex, I couldn't put it down. Human Revolution was one of my favourite games back in the 7th gen. Sad to see the way things have gone since then. I really hope someone can pick this IP up and do it justice. Truly one of the most interesting and innovative series I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

Deus ex has undeniably changed my life. Ever since I discovered it via mankind divided in 2019, it made me find my passion for art back, I wrote stories, I made friends. I was SO excited to see where Eidos was going to bring our dear Adam. It's been 2 months now, but the knot in my stomach is always there...

The original game made you think and delve into philosophy. All of the sequels failed to do that.

Not having money for videogames, Mankind Divided has been the first Deus Ex game i've ever played, I had only ever heard good things about this franchise and so far it's amazing. A beautiful atmosphere, interesting (and quite applicable to real life) story, and great gameplay that feels amazing compared to say, cyberpunk. I'm glad i was able to get it for free, though it's sad that that was only because the death of a series i never got to live through.

During these days I am replaying HR and MD and man, this video hurts. But thanks for it anyway.

I thought the game had been dead since the last one came out. It sort of just ended, poorly? Then we've had nothing for 8 years, so assumed it was already gone. But to hear that it is now official is even worse.

I loved mankind divided right up until the ending. You weren't kidding when you say the game just ended right in the middle of the story when it was just beginning to really get good and come together, i was flabergasted at the time and remember telling my friend to only play it if he didn't mind the game just straight up 'ending' half-way through. He never did bother with it, I imagine it put off a large enough amount of people to be negatively reflected in the sales data, so fuck you very much Square Enix. I had no idea they had literally split the game in two but its pretty fucking obvious to anyone thats actually played it. Absolutely tragic that we'll clearly never get that second and final part of the story. Ironic that it falls to corporate greed.

I'm so glad you said what you said @7:58, because I have been saying this as well. The exact themes that Deus Ex touched on are a big reason why we won't see anymore games in this franchise. We are almost (if not already) in that Futuristic dystopian society where government are in full control, corporations are working hand in hand with government "for the betterment of the people" they claim and the people don't even realize how close we are to this dystopian future. I could not imagine a new Deus Ex game touching on the themes the past games, especially not buy some AAA dev/publisher, but I could see some indie dev taking up the slack and making an ode to the deus Ex games with very deep writing and themes intact. We live in strange times for sure and as much as I love the Deus Ex games (especially the OG) I feel the themes just won't be as impactful as they use to be. Still it sucks how the IP was handled but at the same time I'm not surprised.

Still playing MD to this day.. Still listen to the OST... (The mix is just perfect) I love the fact that in MD you can learn more about Adam by doing the side quests. The fact you died in HR and are basically a clone, though enough hints will be given, it's never really said out loud.. How many times I have made stories in my head for een sequel to MD, to fill the gaps to the OG Deus Ex... It could be such an interesting story! Human Revolution and Mankind Divided are my fvorite Deus Ex games, and I know that's a controversial and unpopular opinion, but I loved the story the character of Adam Jensen, the gameplay, from stealth to hacking, the setting. characters, also it found a way to make negotiations into an actual real time Boss fight. The negotiation with Botkoveli is a masterclass in how to do a multi-choice dialogue tree that had choice and consequences. Man, it's disappointing.

You know, sometimes its better to see something pass/end than make a fool of itself.. The amount of nonsense in gaming (and media in general) at the moment would've made development on this game a living hell and most likely suffer as a result. I DO think it'll be back with time though.

I’m gonna be honest, I finally got around to playing Cyberpunk 2077 recently and not only did I think it was overrated, but it also made me want to play Deus Ex again.

Hi, the video was great but I would like to bring up somethings about the story I think are worth mentioning. You mention DX:MD's story being cut in half, but something you didn't discuss is that the story seemed to have been rewritten at some point after announcement. The hoodie character that the announcement trailer focused on was remove apart from some in game text, Marchenko's final fight/design didn't reflect the whole "first gen aug" theme the devs announced. The Dvali theater we see ingame was present in the trailer, but it seemed to have been Marchenko's base in the trailer. We also saw the Blade in the announcement trailer but it wasn't present until we got the DLC. I've not played in a while but all of these changes from the first trailer/demos to final release convince me that the game's story was hit far more than just being cut in half.

How many other IP's have met this same fate I wonder? Damn shame!

I hope they make at least some book to finish Adam's arc. The third game would fix all the loose ends, but now we'll never know about what really happened with Adam and how he was manipulated because he's DNA. I remembered playing HR for free because of Xbox Game Pass when I was 13. Now I am 19 yo and probably will never see a ending to this. RIP Deus Ex. I hope Embracer and Square Enix never touch projects like this just to destroy it.

At this point, I might settle for something similar to what happened to... I wanna say HL2: E03(?) where a writer of the game published the script of the narrative but changed the names to avoid issues. I just wanna know was MD Adam a clone? What about those mystery augmentations? If Adam was indeed a clone, what happened to the original? Was Elisa (HR) or her 'clone' related to the AIs from the first game? And, most importantly, what is the connection between Adam (clone or not) to the Denton Brothers

Wow...all that love, we really never asked for this Cyberpunk 2077 hit a part of the genre, but Deus Ex absolutely nailed what I personally felt like the future of Cybernetics would have been.

I imagine it was specifically S-E London responsible for this; Formerly Eidos, which we know how scummy they've been since the early days of Tomb Raider.

Deus Ex 1 needs to be remade. Imagine what they can do today with 2024 tech like cyberpunk.

I fell in love with Human Revolution when I first played it. I never did play the first 2. I played Mankind Divided and loved that game too. I always felt like Deus Ex was a highly underrated, hidden gem. I too am deeply affected at hearing it is no more.. this is the first I am hearing of it. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Deus Ex, the whole saga, is one of the most complex, sophisticated and prophetic storylines to ever been offered as "games", and like you i was having high hopes that a sequel to MD was going to see the light of day some time between 2025/2028 approx. This is very very sad news and also infuriating, It seems quality games are slowly fading out, and it's unfair considering the HUGE AMOUNT OF CRAP companies are putting out, but i better stop right there, getting too fired up with wffing idiots running things

As a fan of the game I am very disappointed. They literally broke my heart. This is what happens when someone buys a company! We say goodbye to the previous product! Or it becomes something that has nothing to do with the previous product.

Waited 11 years after the first DX to get HR. Still haven't played MD despite it being in my library, partly fearing the ending and/or lack of closure. Michael McCann's music did as good to me all these years, as Alex B and Michel Bos's. Glad I never learned there was another game in the making. Life has taken much away as I grow older. So long DX. So long Adam Jensen. The moment feels as sombre as his apartment and the accompanying music in HR.

I've shat on Embracer group the minute i heard about their aquisition of all these IPs. I knew i'd be justified soon.

Deus Ex was my one favorite FPS game, Adam Jensen being one of my favorite videogame protags, but it felt fated when mess surrounding Mankind Divided that something bad was going to happen. First, the lore; they'd move further from conspiracy theories which would have been poignant for the time. They ham-fisted current politics in the worst way. Then the continuity when they seemed scatter-brained where to go, not that I minded some side stuff. Even when Square, they would not pursue IPs if they didn't reach a certain prestige or showed indifference toward a project not from their flag-ships. Square-Enix expected immediate results from the West and big money they saw the West making, forgetting that effort and not meddling is still required.

Weirdly enough the original deus ex hinted at augmented racism with character Gunther Herman.

Guess my time with immersive sims started with Ultima Underworld and the first System Shock. Sigh. Good times. Was a great time when I played through Deus Ex for the first time, too. Embracer group killed Gothic and it's makers as well. So there's my most loved, most enjoyed franchise down the drain as well. Irreplaceable.

I didn't know half of this story, Such a shame. Human Rev and Mankind divided blew me away when I first played them. Mankind was probably my goty for 2016, top 5 best games Ive played in that gen easily. Later I discovered that its director also directed Guardians of the Galaxy, another game I really liked. When I discovered this I kinda accepted that the team had probably moved on from the franchise but knowing now that there was still a chance and now its gone breaks my heart. I hope at least to see and play a game made by this team in the future again, like Guardians. They're so talented and not enough studios make games like them.

Damn man, what a shame indeed... Deus Ex 1 was my first game, that I ever got for my first PC and till this day, it is the still the best game, that I ever played. Deus Ex and Splinter Cell were my two favorite franchises and are both in a not so good state right now. Maybe some not triple A corpos will pick it up and make it, what it deserves to be.
