Another important fact about Turing: we might live in a world where Nazis won WWII if he hadn't cracked the Enigma Code. Idk this Alive Jew finds that important. He deserves to be on that bill.

Also he was criminalised, chemically castrated then driven to suicide by the people he saved for being gay. So, well, in many ways him being gay is more important because the millions of lives he (and his team) saved wasn't enough to save him from abuse based on his sexuality.

SCP-7,000 (There's too g-d many now, I don't know..) "The Hokey-Pokey" Object class: Euclid Description: SCP-7,000 is a 60 minute, TDK brand, standard bias, cassette tape. When played in any cassette player, it first appears to be blank. However, after 45 seconds the song "Hokey-pokey" begins to play, sung by a small chorus of children accompanied by a single piano. The first verse is quite normal. However, in the second verse the childrens voices sound slightly angry. In the third verse, the piano is now playing in a minor key and the voices are becoming distorted. By the fourth verse the piano accompaniment is almost unrecognizable, and the vocals sound purely demonic. Tests by Dr. [redacted] at site [data expunged] on subject D-6534 have shown the following results: At first mild annoyance. This is followed by anxiety, then panic. By the fouth verse, D-6534 was convulsing on the floor of the test chamber shortly before falling unconscious. A recording of a silent video feed confirms this. The tape was stopped and D-6534 was taken to the infirmary. After 4 hours, D-6534 awoke and began dancing the Hokey-Pokey. Ateempts were made by the medical staff to subdue him, but D-6534 resisted all attempts. When strapped down, he struggled so hard to continue to dance, that he broke his own arms and legs in order to continue to put them in & out. He sang a final verse about putting his head in and out, and when he shook it all about, he broke his neck and [redacted]. After D-6534's expiration, the cassette tape was found to be rewound and located in an old boombox in a staff members personal quarters. Fortunately, the staff member being trained to be aware of anything out of the ordinary reported the unusual tape found in his boombox. Dr-[Redacted] secured the tape and returned to to its current containment. SCP-7,000 is to be kept in a standard plastic cassette box, which in turn is to be placed in a magnetically shielded and locked box. The box is to be stored in the onsite vault, accessible to level 3, or higher researchers only.

6:37 For anyone wondering, the reason why they point out his sexuality is because he was prosecuted under the charges of sexual misdemeanor (he was gay) and was forced to, instead of going to jail, start a series of painful sexual re-orientation therapy wich included industiral castration and he died shortly after (killed himself (or was killed) with a knife, if I recall correctly). He basically lost all of his prestige and dignity and eventually his life because of the crime of loving a man…

For anyone wondering what Alison Sydor was talking about- She's transphobic, and uses the basis of trans women having 'advantages' in sports as a justification for it. In particular, she basically accused trans rights activism of being more about making money than, you know, science and giving a shit about people. While she certainly has the basis to have input, it doesn't actually justify what she uses that status to push. The reality is that trans woman athletes are such a small population that they do not pose any risk against cisgender female athletes when it comes to sport positions. And that the junk science used to support the idea of keeping them out of sports is more likely to harm not just trans women, but cisgender individuals, who may be intersex in some form and not know until they are disqualified for having 'too high' of testosterone to meet the criteria, or even cisgender women who simply produce more testosterone. It has happened before that such hormone regulations have pushed AFAB individuals with promising sports careers into quitting for fear of being pushed out of the closet, and the junk science behind the rules leads to even more dangerous rules and laws being based on it. Including laws that conservatives have attempted to pass that would force all children who compete in sports to be subject to genital exams by any school official simply to join a sports team, or to be forced to comply to such if accused of 'being a boy.' I don't think I need to point out how quickly and easily that would be abused. Luckily, that part didn't completely pass into the law- in some places, on this attempt. But some conservatives are already foaming at the mouth to create new laws to add it. As I said, it doesn't invalidate her position to make a statement, or that she murdered the other with words- just don't confuse having a good comeback with being in the right.

6:25 the reason Alan Turing is a gay man it's important was because he was prosecuted for being guilty and he lost his government job he had to get hormone treatments and just live and not good life in general to the point of where he committed suicide by dosing an apple of cyanide so yeah that's why I'm turning being a gay man and some portions and also we finally got a banknote even though I'm not British but we still got a bank note Edit: spelling

the first is accurate in some places for example in my city a person was robbed 5 times by the same thief the last robbery her daughters were alone at home (the eldest was under 10 and it is not legal to carry weapons) When the person arrived at his house, he called the police. They didn't answer, he went looking for the thief and found him in my family's kiosk, hiding and asking for help. My family knows him (his brother came to rob the kiosk a few months before) so they didn't help him The person found him and began to beat him, so my uncle called the police the first time they answered and told him: "leave the place and I let him to kill it" After that they did not return to answer the phone

11:09 also why specifically focus on the fact they're trans? Don't most trans people just wanna be seen as the gender they are? The traits described here don't have anything to do with being trans, and therefore is irrelevant. The person made it sound like these traits are so exceptional for transwomen, they ultimately contradicted the point they wanted to make

2:23 Actually, that's exactly what they teach. They also teach that the battle was won in 18 minutes and that Santa Anna tried to flee wearing the uniform of a low-ranking soldier. Her quaint concept of honor has little application when facing a larger, more professional military force that has proven itself willing to murder prisoners on multiple occasions. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but Santa Anna's central Mexican government was not a victim in the Texas Revolution. Feel free to check the history on the other Mexican provinces that revolted around the same time.

The Turing one. He wasn't jailed and castrated for being a scientist that birthed modern computers and ended WW2. He was jailed and castrated for being gay, even though he was a scientists that at that time already birthed modern computers and ENDED WORLD WAR 2.

I thought the Alan Turing one was gonna go one of two ways: either the person with the response would have pointed out that in English you put the adjective (gay) before the noun (computer scientist) or that they would point out that he wasn't credited for his revolutionary work solely because he was gay. It went neither way and was more of an explanation of the order of events.

As to why insulin manufacturers would make their product prohibitively expensive, there are two reasons. The first probably has something to do with insurance (insurance will pay a fair amount of that inflated cost while anyone without insurance is stuck paying the whole thing), but also it can be more profitable to take more money from fewer people. All drug companies care about is how much money they're making, not how many people are taking their medications. If doubling the price of the drug would only price out 25% of the people who take it then it's worth doing. This is, coincidentally, why no part of healthcare should be run for profit.
