The gyro bit is actually timeless, I laughed my ass off even years later.

Fun fact: this was the hardest AVGN episode to make, it took James 126 hours to complete the episode.

You know for 1985, that's a pretty damn good attempt at an artificial 2nd player. Despite the slow motions, still impressive.

That was seriously emotional hearing the nerd talking about Mario being a hero and then almost getting killed. Such an amazing episode.

It still amazes me that Rob can only play Gyromite and Stack up due to his limitations but can kick James's ass and blow up the city with no problem. Still one of the best episodes of all time.

On another AVGN binge, and this is always a favorite. The irony is that R.O.B. did actually play a big part in the NES being successful at least in the west, but not because it was actually any good. I actually still have my R.O.B. It's scary to think that without that janky robot toy, video games might not have taken off or been as successful in the 80's as they were.

Got Rob the Christmas it came out. Had countless hours of fun with it too. Years of fun. Playing the gyro game "normal" was great and really fun but incredibly stressful too because it was a thin balancing act to keep one gyro on a color, decide if it needed more spin to stay on the color and not fall off, whether to remove it, switch it to another color, use 2 at one time, (using 3-4 because you always want one "charged" up in the pencil thing) It was pretty hard after so many levels.. so only beat the thing by using the second controller in my other hand as Angry Gamer Nerd did at the start. Imagine being at a bottle assembly line and one breaks, followed by millions more that start crashing and breaking too, creating a chain reaction where everything gets destroyed. That's what it was like trying to maintain the buttons on ROB. It's was a never ending cycle of figuring out what was the best way to proceed based off those gyro things because you also had to take into acct how *_slow_* he was doing that stuff. That was the real trick. The gyro things themselves were the best. Just super fast spinning tops, they made your hands feel weird (when young it was cool) holding them, as gravity or something forces it to move in a strange particular way from going _that_ fast. Rob was 10/10 for the time because it actually worked. Never forget opening that package on Christmas morning. Just like yesterday. Thank you for this video, I just subscribed yesterday after a full, day long binge of other videos. Just wow. I am impressed.

If the R.O.B. had even been half as powerful as it was in this episode, I would've most likely forgiven it for trying to kill me. The real thing was so useless that we ended up strapping fireworks to it and murdering it in a firepit.

I just scored a ROB last night on eBay as a decorative piece for my gaming room / collection. This video started that dream for me about 10 years ago, now I FINALLY have one. Imagine coding it to speak like it does here 🤣🤣
