That's because railgun is seen through Mikoto's eyes aka biribiri vision and she see's Touma as a cool and mature worthy rival. While Index is seen through Touma's eyes and he see's himself as an ordinary teenage boy forced into insane situations because of his bad luck.

@@yareezap844 You don't know much about this series then, esper powers work on the idea of personal realities in other words lying to yourself to make it real. So ya Mikoto is a bit delusional and her bias towards Touma who she originally see's as a cool rival and then hero/knight in shining armor and love intrest makes her see him differently then he actually is. And ya you can fool your senses the human brain is easy to trick and manipulate, pathetically so.

that might be striped out in railgun since it focusses on misaka and make touma act like on its own series can break the point of having railgun/misaka PoV and that what might the creator thinking

I'll make a little contribution to this "feels so much alive" and I'll make a comparison between the CHASER part. 1: Index: Misaka moves her head and jumps a bit as a kind of warming up. Railgun: Misaka changes the position of her body but just a bit. 2: Index and Railgun: The part where she spins to do the kick. 3: Index: We can see the moment where she kicks the machine and Touma reacting in the background. Also, the screen shakes a bit to gives us the feeling that was a strong kick Railgun: We don't see the kick, just a static pic of some buildings, a tree and then the sky. 4. Index: A slow motion of Misaka skirt moving due to the kick. Railgun: The same static pic. I think it also feels more alive because there is more movement and there are more things happening. Yeah, the second point looks better in Railgun but they had the time to make it looks that good because they didn't spend time doing all those other things I listed.

It's pretty funny seeing Touma through two perspectives his own where he's just a normal teenager with a bizzare power in his right hand that causes more trouble then it's worth and is constantly forced into batshit crazy situations because of his misfortune caused by said right hand. And Mikoto who see's Touma as this insanely cool badass action hero and worthy rival/love interest.

agreed though I would also say it could be from Point of View. The way each of them saw the scene. So we basically see what they interpreted from each other. Much like how 2 people in the real world can both interpret the same event in different ways. While on the left we see biribiri hopping in place a lot more....we could assume kamijou is having thoughts about how silly she may look.... Whereas in the right...Misaka instantly turns into a roundhouse kick which she could be thinking of herself looking epic. and in actuality...she may have hopped like twice and then kicked lol

@@Dracobalt True. I also noticed Touma is more composed and way less goofy on the Railgun side, which I interpret as Misaka seeing him as this sort of cool, mysterious guy at this point in the story. Whereas the Index side has much more focus on Misaka and makes her much more quirky and kinda loony, which absolutely shows how Touma is confused and a bit on guard at this encounter with this seemingly crazy chick he (from his POV) just met. And of course, on Index side Touma's eyes wander to get a panty shot but is disappointed, while Mikoto isn't even worried about that and wouldn't focus on it, so it's not even shown in the Railgun side. It's perfect. The difference in animation is a pretty brilliant way to show the difference in their perspectives.

I don't agree with this, they straight up rearrange scenes and change sequences, add more dialgoues, replace dialogues etc. This is not a different point of view case to me, this just feels like a blatant retcon or maybe they just didn't rewatch index when makimg it

Well, it’s more due to a single scene being approached by different directors. It’s not like you can literally see what was happening in the novel, so visual differences were a given (not to mention, both anime scenes slightly differ from the LN).

@@abdmin503 It’s not a retcon; both are just different interpretations of what happens in the novel. Both are adaptations, and the scene itself differs in the railgun manga compared to the light novel - just like it does in each respective anime adaptation.

They're different shows, but they take place in the same universe as part of the To Aru series. The three shows that take place in this universe are: Toaru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magical Index), Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun), and Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator (A Certain Scientific Accelerator) The shows overlap because they all take place in the same universe at around the same time and place.

I remembered watching this a few years ago when the rumors of the Index 3rd season was circulating. There were a lot more japanese comments then...wondering where those went.

its confusing in anime because even if they're scratching their heads or making some twisted body movement it never actually happened, the body movement is for us viewers to see the mental state or thoughts of the character, so sometimes their emotions/thoughts are expressed through action in 'their' mind in a sense.
