I'd like to add for context: Franz Kafka is somewhat of a bane of german highschool students, infamous for wiriting the most depressing, disturbing and desperate stories, presumably in part as a way to deal with his own daddy issues. His classic include: "The metamorphosis" : Man finds himself inexplicably turned into a giant beetle one day and slowly witnesses as his family slowly loses all emotional attachment to him. He eventually dies, with the entire family just being relieved to be ridd of him to the point where they all take a day off and go on a picknick. as well as "The trial", which is about a man who is charged with an unspecified crime and who fails to find out what he did wrong in spite of his best efforts before he is executed.

The actors in Spy Kids did those movies because they were legit fun movies and most adults just don't have the imagination to look past the cartoonish visual style and simple plots and see movies made as a labor of love, not just to put butts in seats, but to put smiles on faces. Also it's Robert Rodriguez. From what I hear every actor who worked on one of his movies has had a great time.

The thing that separates bad writing and foreshadowing is if it’s so obvious that the main characters should have figured it out, but if it is something that only the viewers know or if it’s not that noticeable than not all viewers catch it than yes, it’s good foreshadowing
@L-ghtlessSky

Like “I sure hope this house isn’t haunted!” is bad writing, but like, a passing, short comment of “ooh, spooky ghost” or one character scaring another like “Boo! I’m a ghost!” I think is foreshadowing, but like- different? Yknow?

For the Prince of Egypt and Shrek thing, let’s be honest, at the time, it WOULD seem like a punishment. Shrek was in development hell, its lead died, and his replacement wanted to do all his lines TWICE. Meanwhile, Prince of Egypt had every favor Spielberg could call in to get A list actors, and it was a gorgeously animated film with beautiful music and an adaptation of Exodus that it would seem to be a kiss of death for your career to be taken off to have your name on the movie that looked to be irreverent and gross and would likely be forgotten. Then Shrek came out.

The weirdest part for me is I enjoyed Prince of Egypt a lot and felt the first shrek was boring. The second shrek I always liked but I feel like I enjoyed prince of Egypt because of it being a story of Moses and I grew up Catholic and saw the movie when I was young despite the fact that I’d only seen it a handful of times and I’d seen shrek like 15 times

The irony layers itself (no pun intended) unexpectedly. Although Price of Egypt became a classic in it's own right, no one would've guessed that the Shrek would not be immortalized, nor be the mascot of DreamWorks itself to a tee. Since the studio was originally made to be a mostly animated studio that would give Disney the finger.

9:50 Fun Fact! In this _Hercules_ movie, every single time Phil uses a seemingly incongruous word count, it is, in fact, the correct word count for what he says, in Greek!
@emilysmith2965
@emilysmith2965 Жыл бұрын
That is very cute and good. I like how the ONLY tie-in between the world of Hercules and Danny DeVito’s unmistakably NYC voice acting is that Athens gets called The Big Olive and it is never otherwise relevant to the plot. That is just very pure and not taking itself too seriously to me.

6:14- I STILL remember the time my mom grabbed me by the chin and forced me to make eye contact with her. The odds she remembers are zero. She thought I was being disrespectful, and maybe I was because she'd been trying to tell me something and I wasn't reacting with the instant obedience she wanted, but it took me years to memorize the eye color of everyone in my family. Eye contact with strangers still feels both overly intimate and potentially dangerous. My family doesn't comment on it, at least, and my entire close friend group is on the spectrum so it's nice that no one cares about eye contact at our gaming groups too.

For the discussion board, im homeschooled and familiar with it so for those that are curious, - basically you *publicly* post your essay about the specific topic in a chat area (you don’t really chat in it, you can only post your essay and reply to others essays) and you have to reply to two other people for full credit, and the picture in the video with someone saying the response is usually what people say. its *hell.*

@@Kaotic_Sprinkles Hence the "I especially agree with it being 'one of the nine circles of hell'. Well said." Gotta have something that "shows you read their comment" because perceived interaction is more important. But if a teacher is so lazy they're offloading the grading part and just looking at what the students are saying about it, they're too lazy to think about WHAT the students are saying and whether it's actually meaningful. Thankfully, I never had to do this discussion board nonsense myself.

here a little tip from a confectioner for baking cake in difficult forms: before you put the dough into the form take some butter/margerine (or the fat you use for your dough) and melt it. then paint the inside of the form with it by pouring the fat into the form and use something (a cooking brush would be the best but you can use whatever you have with you) to spread the fat everywhere in the form. then dump out the rest of the fat and sieve flour over the fat before dumping out the flour that didn't stick to the fat. you now should have a very thin layer of a flour fat mixture that looks a bit greasy. Now you can fill in the dough. after baking the dough should go out easily and have all the details. thanks for joining my ted talk.

Kind of sounds like Dr Heinz Doofenshmirtz. Because of all of his traumatic backstories, he slowly became a villain. He formed LOVEMUFFIN for the sense of companionship he never found in his own family, and wants to conquer Danville to compensate for feeling like he had no control when he was young. Through all of this though, he is still fun loving guy who is nice to the few people he still genuinely cares about.

6:13 That trick does work to an extent (I use it a good bit), but not for long periods cause then you're focusing on said object so you end up "creepily" staring at them for too long. So THEN, to keep from doing the "creepy stare", you have to also start counting out seconds in your brain so you then know when to look away (approximately 3 seconds of contact for casual, 4-5 for showing interest.). But you can't do it fast! You have to look away slowly or it makes it look like you've gotten distracted. After "breaking" the contact you need to count _again_ for about 5-6 seconds before repeating the process. You need to do over 70% eye contact when listening, and 50% when speaking. So now, take all of that information I told you, and add tons of stimuli along with it. Maybe theres an unpleasant smell, a random clicking noise, the vent is blowing too hard, the fabric of some furniture is busy or its unbearably itchy, an odd taste is floating in your mouth, the lights are making that annoying buzzing noise, there's too many lights, too many ppl are around talking. While also counting between "contact" and "non-contact" you're having to forcefully try to ignore all these stimuli so you can just hear what someone is saying to you, let alone process it. We have to hear your tone and inflection and decide what emotion this relates to, do I remember what this body motion means? Oh f*** there's a moth on the wall, who let in a moth? Should I go catch it before it gets hurt- S*** what was my count?! Crap crap crap, did they say something important?! Don't say something dumb, don't say something dumb!!! That's what its like to have a ND brain, and thats only scratching the surface. NTs only have to deal with pieces of this. You guys wonder why we're exhausted all the time or shut down and become non-verbal. However yes, I agree with the OP that was definitely what that kid needed.

9:58 As a writer(and I speak for only myself don't apply this to everyone), I love when people guess my plot twists ahead of time. It makes me really happy to see that people enjoy my work enough to dig into the actions and dialogue of the characters and figure out where I might be going with it. It's not bad writing, it's steering the reader to an amazing "oh my god I called it" moment.

For anyone who needs context on the Blackboard discussion post, Blackboard is commonly used in online classes for student collaboration. I used to use it all the time in highschool and it was required for "Student Discussion" that in order to get credit for collaborating, you needed to reply to two other students posts. I still have to do similar stuff in college because, for some reason, student discussion is mandatory.

Yeah, I had to do it in college too. Discussing a topic in of itself isn't bad and I usually didn't have as much trouble writing my own thing as I did having to reply to others (who were usually saying basically the same things as everyone else). So in a way it just feels like contributing for the sake of it rather than having anything meaningful to add. And it continues into the workforce where you're told to do something because you're supposed to and not because it's more efficient. In this essay I will-

@@alternativeplane if you *only* had 100$ bills, and if you could pull them out at 1 per second, you would get the full million in 2 hours, 46 mins, and 40 seconds. So the vast majority of bills would have to be $100 bills in order to make the 3 hr target.

12:33 When I was younger, maybe around 4, I had this little stuffed animal of an orange cat that I named Lucy that I absolutely adored. I brought it everywhere with me, and one day I had misplaced and lost her while we were out. I was absolutely distraught over this. My mom did the same thing, and began to write letters to me, written as if they were from Lucy, detailing all sorts of adventures and experiences that Lucy had. One day, after getting back home from preschool, there was a package on the table for me and it was a different orange cat plush. I asked why she looked different and the letter explained that she got a makeover while she was away, and wanted to look her best for her return home before she mailed herself in a package. I dunno if this story is where my mom got that idea or not, but regardless what my mom did was really similar to this story. I really appreciate her doing that for me, it means a lot looking back at it. I still have my Lucy plush and those letters to this day.

Robin, you are correct. If you pulled $1 out of your pocket every second it would take you approximately 11.5 days, give or take an hour or two. Now if you want to take time to eat and sleep, which comes out to an average of 11 hours a day, it would take you a little over 3 weeks.

The food becomes nutrients that your cells consume. They use that energy to make a copies of themselves. Over and over and over again.
