I really need a place that will sell the SC snoot bearings. I've looked into 5 different distro and they state they are discontinued. Still looking, if anyone knows a precision bearing that is perfect for the SC on an r53.

I got both tbf, the r56 is undeniably faster and isn't rusty yet, has been a constant pain in the backside. The r53 has been reliable despite age and mileage but I have been fighting off rust 😅 both are fun

I have an 05 R53 that I picked up cheap in the garage right now that I'm building. It's gonna be putting down around 450 to the wheels when I'm done with it. It's kind of my current project, I worked as a shop mechanic for years so we gotta have something to work on ya know.

I own and daily drive an r53 cooper s with a couple mods theyre slept on before i got one i had no idea they were packing like that i just never thought about them i got a deal i couldnt refuse when i needed a car and it is a 6 speed manual so thats what sold me i love this car its awesome and so fun people sleep on the mini coopers

I just bought a 2013 s, it doesn't run, it has p0237 and oxygen sensor codes. It has 110k miles gonna change the turbo and o2 sensor 😅and hope it starts

R53- Supercharger whine, more reliable (yet still requires moderate to deep pockets if you want it mint) ,easy to work on but no cam chain issues amongst others atrributed to the r56.

This video proves a point that I’ve noticed there are no old mini coopers driving around on the roads. Only new ones not only are the engines bad but the trans are bad and they can’t be rebuilt unless you like working on cars and fixing what Bmw would not fix best not to buy a Cooper many good looking car, though lots of promise.

I’m a supercharger kind of guy, but, left foot breaking with your right foot mashed through the floor keeping the turbo spooled will have the same effect as a no lag supercharger. Much harder on the car though…. 😊

@@banjoboy9443 turbo is generally more efficient just takes a different driving style. My r56 is without a doubt a faster car (I have both) and the engine is characteristically very good, lots of low down grunt for a little lump. R53 has been far more reliable and you have to thrash it's nuts to get the best from it.

I have R56 with 1.4 engine, availiable on some markets. Changed the timing chain, changed some coolant hoses and I can’t complain. I didn’t want the 1.6 with turbo since the fuel is injected directly plus it’s unreliable. The 1.4 (also known as 1.4 VTi in Citroen/Peugeot cars) is more reliable

If you do proper maintenance+ good quality petrol the N14 is a good engine

I get that it's more reliable but they aren't even comparable. The 1.4 is a put around to work engine for better mpg and cheap motoring. The 1.6t is the hot version.

R56 More power but it weighs substantially more than the r53 so it doesn’t really matter lol. I’ll take my r53 all day long.

Not if you build the engine in the R53. Cheap to add a few hp with that engine, relatively speaking. Doesn't take much more hrsprz to make them the fastest car on the road. Underdrive, cam, high flow exhaust, and a tune will give you what you want. If you get the big valve head or port match your existing head you'll get even more. I'm building an 05 S right now that'll be putting down about 450 to the ground.

I’m building my R53 as well, high flow exhaust, enclosed cold air intake, smaller pulley on the supercharger, coil overs, +12mm spacers, larger radiator, planning on getting larger injectors soon. Probably going to do a water/methanol injected top mounted intercooler. Unfortunately I blew a head gasket so I gotta deal with that first lol.

Not possible unless 1. The engine was swapped from a newer car 2. You are talking about a Cooper S, not a JOHN COOPER WORKS model

Turbos can be dirty and hard work! I have just bought myself an r53 mini and trust me, supercharger with milltek exhaust and performance air filter system is different gravy 😂

@@whistlemotors I already own an F56 Cooper S, so I guess I'm already living with my own best choice haha. But the R58 JCW is my favourite mini ever, followed by the R56 JCW
