30 year lifespan for RAAC, most of the buildings affected were built in the 1970's. They knew this was coming and did nothing !!

In 2010 they scrapped a Labour £56billion school building project, to replace all RAAC schools over time. Look where we are now.

Labour earmarked billions to rectify this; however, Gove cut the education budget in 2010, hence why it's come to the surface now. Disgusting this can kill children in schools and other people in unknown public buildings.

@@richards9750 2010 is still between 10 and 30 years past the building's maximum lifespan, it doesn't absolve him, but its clear he's not the ONLY one to blame, Labour were in from 1997 yet decided the fix could wait till at least 2010, both are as bad as each other.

Yes she should but that would risk exposing the lies it contains such as funding for remedial work will come from the DfE.... Err No. There is no new money for this. The BBC revealed that the Tories have revealed that the money will come from existing resources. Just another Tory lie. You cannot trust the Tories with anything let alone the truth.

Absolute abdication of responsibility…again. Keegan was on every media source possible when announcing the 7 Free Schools including the one at Eton. But when it comes to the children of us plebs, it seems that the fact the schools we send our kids to are downright dangerous is not worthy of the same coverage. Instead she thinks that a condescending video will placate the mob. She had to have hunt come out a face the flak this morning.

20/21 DfE data states there are currently around 32,000 schools in UK serving around 10.3M pupils. The viewing figures for this video suggests it isn't getting to its audience, despite the inappropriately upbeat music . Also the phrase 'We know of 156 confirmed cases ...'would be more compelling it had been preceded by 'Having completed a thorough survey of all schools'.

The reason why public services including schools, the NHS and transport have suffered is because of neo-liberal deliberate underfunding for over 40 years. The Tories spreadsheet will show private companies and their own bank accounts getting richer at the expense of the tax-payer who has to endure reduced standards whether in schools or on our crumbling road network. This video shows another MP avoiding being accountable to those who pay her ridiculously high salary. This is common-place now. If an MP doesn't like what you write or say to them, they refuse to answer and ignore the issues raised. Known more frequently as stone-walling, Keegan is an MP whose only skill is lying. The political system is no longer working if it ever did. Too many lobbyists getting to MPs for cash and other hospitality gifts whilst the general electorate are ignored. This woman has absolutely no knowledge of education or the deep problems within. The reshuffling of Ministers from one portfolio to another should give the electorate an idea that they are just figureheads for more secretive groups controlling policy. This woman is a complete waste of space and time but sadly she's probably in a safe seat and will be able to earn a lot of money for doing very little whilst the majority struggle. How did this dreadful woman get elected. Her constituents need to change this dire situation next May.

Lots more than 5 years. Try 20 years so for the entire period of the Tory & Tory coalition government. Labour knew about this and had a massive plan to address the issues. In my part of England, most of the older schools were demolished and replaced with new under Labours plan We now have fit for purpose schools (Labour government, Labour council working for constituents) with no RAAC and no asbestos!!! Tories scrapped those plans with their halfwit austerity plan - shame on them. If you voted Tory in past elections, you may not have known it but this is what you voted for. NHS on life support. Social Care desimated, Schools not fit for purpose, Ambulance service at breaking point. I could go on and on and on about the damage the Tories have done to every single constituency in Britain - some just haven't realised the damage done YET!!! But like with this hidden disaster, they will be rudely awakened in due course. If you still believe anything these Tory rats say, then perhaps you need a chunk of RAAC to fall on your head. It might just knock a bit of sense into you. Just heard on the BBC news that the Tories are saying that the cost of repairs will come from existing budgets. Have you ever heard of such muppetry? It's like existing budgets aren't already over stretched🤬🤬🤬 What they are really saying is they are going to pass the problem on to the next (probably Labour) government. No doubt they will criticise Labour for borrowing to fix these defects. That's what Labour will need to do though as this time when the chancellor says the bank account is empty, it won't be a joke (like it was with Labour after the financial crash) it will be true. We need a change in statute so that if we get an incompetent bunch who are doing damage to our Nation (3 countries of Britain plus NI) that they can be forced to face the public in an election. We can't let a self seeking bunch damage the Nation like this again.

New government way of handling hard issues cause by them 1. Say you need to talk to some one in (add dept of choice here) then say you have nothing more to say. 2. Focus the talk on the small amount of money you will give, knowing you should have spent it in the first place. 3. Put accountability on another department or staff at ground level. 4. If non of the above options work say as follows "we understand how you feel and are working tirelessly to fix it". 5. If some says how do you plan to do it follow up with step 2 and add we will discuss how to allocate this funding to support.👏👏👏

Well if there is only 156 why has it taken you 13 years to sort it. Well might have something to do with that in 1998 Labour stopped Public Capital Expenditure being diverted to other Govenment departments. This policy was I believe reversed in 2010.
