The Rabbids actually do have a canon lore: They were peaceful creatures residing in the Glade of Dreams. But because of their stupidity, they were teased and bullied by the other inhabitants of their world. They decide to plan an assault on The Glade. They captured the hero of the world, Rayman, and forced him to compete in silly challenges where they would mock him. Presumably to treat the world’s hero as the world treated them. They then enslaved most of the world’s inhabitants for revenge. Rayman managed to escape, and then foil the Rabbid’s plans. There were a few more Rabbid attacks over the years, but nothing of note. It isn’t known how they gained their inter dimensional travel abilities, but I like to think they invented by mistake
