During his annual pilgrimage to the guitar world’s preeminent showcase event, NAMM, Sweetwater’s resident sound scholar, Mitch Gallagher, made his way to Ernie Ball Music Man’s “eagle’s nest,” as John Petrucci called it, to catch up with none other than Rabea Massaad. As an official emissary of Music Man, Rabea’s proudly debuting his signature Sabre axe: a heavily tailored take on their standard Sabre model that introduces a suite of ergonomic and technological details to give Rabea the tone-crafting prowess necessary to meet the diverse needs of his voltaic repertoire of riffs. Between the complex interplay of the guitar’s 5-way selector and the push/push coil-splitting capabilities built into the Tone knob, Rabea’s signature Sabre is engineered to evoke a sonic output as punishing as the FromSoftware games each model’s namesake finish references.
