Love it, Interviewing Crompton and hes not even a commentator yet but hes still answering questions exactly as the Crompton of today would while commentating. Absolutely brilliant guy

he was a commentator throughout the 2001 Season, he didnt have a full time drive but picked up a co-drive with Lowndes early in the year

Crompton was calling before he was a driver. Was on the ABC's coverage in 83.

@@broadytaylor9493 Correct. He was supposed to have his own Gibson car as team-mate to Lowndes but something happened there pre season.

Not keen on shortened Bathurst races, things happen during the race, IF you miss seeing them you wonder happened. Where is Bathurst 2000 race?? I was there 'live' in 1999. It is AWESOME ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, seeing it on TV is one thing, standing beside the track is Quite something else!!!! LP is one TRUE LEGENDS of the sport. I am not keen on the racing in recent years, it is NOT half as good as this, no where near it!!!!!

Apparently, the full tapes of this race are currently missing from the Supercars Archive. They apparently can't be found which is concerning. It's why CMS Motorsport who are releasing the full Bathurst 1000s on DVD are currently skipping 2001 and going straight to 2002 with their next release. The tapes just can't be found... Do hope they turn up sooner or later. Most of the full Bathurst 1000 races from 1976 onwards still exist. (With a few hours missing from 1976 and an hour missing from 1977 but full from 1978 onwards.)

@BryanShadowbuck I wonder if Tens vaults have been checked or does the NFSA have the tapes. it's a bit concerning what Supercars or CMS archive don't have. 1978 is not quite complete as the tape for most of the 2nd hour of the race is missing but an off-air recording of most of the pre-race and the complete race does exist.

I just bought the highlights DVD of this Bathurst great to Some strong combos like s.richards/Seton two sons of guns and Stevens dad Jim with canto Murphy/t.kelly wills/bowe and radisich/Johnson if you can guess I from NZ

@@F1Kamel_1992 it's alot more than 20laps they skipped alot more but it's better than nothing I say we will just have to wait until 7 magic moments of motorsport brings the full telecast out there up to 1994 at present

How on earth is 2hr 44min a "Full Race" at best that is "full hi-lights", full race should be 4h 30min minimum if its what was broadcast on the day with ad breaks removed -like the 2002 "Full Race". The race was actually 6h 50min long.

[FULL RACE.....] rubbish it is. 1000km in 2:44:44 - they'd have to average over 360km/h. Unless of course four hours of ad breaks have been edited out which is entirely possible for Bathurst on free to air TV.

I would really love to hear Supercars reasoning for hyping up the "full race" for a week on all social media and then giving us the highlight package. It's a joke. Won't let us share the races, copyright us at every turn then give us this. Unbelievable.
