Keeps things spicy, the track being this tight and challenging pushes the drivers to be more bold and if these race fans don't want bold racing then they might as well just go watch literally any F1 race

Ray Harroun won the original Indianapolis 500 by driving at a moderate, consistent speed which saved tires and fuel and limited his pit stops. While other drivers were driving as hard as they can and were crashing and pitting, Harroun pressed on and won the race despite not having the fastest car. That's Dixon, but almost every race. He's a machine!

I will bet my money the same thing will happen if F1 drivers drive Indycars. F1 does have a lot of collisions too by the way, and the performance differences between the good cars and bad cars are so big that everybody in F1 is driving a different race. With the equal spec cars and bunched together, F1 drivers will no doubt collide in tight courses like this.

people dont understand that after rain its hard to brake especially with these cars,most of the hairpin crashes were because of drivers missing their brake points

@mrbungle3310 Yep and in that hairpin is 2 pavement changes, what's good for rain on one pavement doesn't mean it's good for all pavement, plus ambient track temp never got above 80°, this was the "coldest" DGP race I've ever been to, it's usually 85° air temp with ambient track temp of 100°+, with the overcast we had and the rain, I wouldn't be surprised if track temp dropped into the 50s/60s

@mrbungle3310 This is why it's such an awesome track, there are SO many factors that make this GP far different than any other and much different than Belle Isle, it's a drivers track, most advantages are wiped out in these circumstances, and that's why Scottie Dix won, ntm he was fuel saving under caution lol

Street course race procedure should be changed. At 00:47 replay showed that the orange car tapped into the the guy who spun out. Orange car should be sent to the rear on the restart for causing the pile up. All others should get their spot back if the car is not damaged.

Feel bad for Alex. The number 10 pit needs to be imaginative and bold, rather than just do the opposite of those lining up in front of them on the grid. With the Oval's not being Alex strong venues, hopefully he will bounce back. Hope to see four or five drivers vying for the championship at the last race

Yep. I’m not sure why the huge push to bring Belle Isle back. The racing was boring. Were there any areas to pass at all? This new downtown circuit would be okay/better without the terrible surface conditions. They really can’t find the funds to pave 1.6 miles of roads in Detroit? Those huge bumps are unacceptable.

@tweek218 There were two, one on each straight away and I think one in turn 4, in downtown, there's passing pretty much every where except the Riverfront turn 8 to the finish line, this track brings out the boldness of these drivers and is a testament to how skillful they can drive such a track, I've seen more overtakes the last 2 years downtown than the previous 2 Duals (4 races)

This was a black eye for Indycar. There was nothing good about this race. Indycar should release a press announcement apologizing for this total debacle. Horrible course layout, is way too narrow, terrible sight lines for the fans, and a wreck fest. Please no more street courses.

👎👎👎 to this debacle. The series should be embarrassed to create such a short narrow course. The 500 was so great again, biggest race in the world, so many new eyes on it despite the rain. And you follow it with… this. Whatever you call it. One step forward, maybe 3-4 steps back.

That has to be the ugliest race track I've ever seen. Why? Why would anyone want to race on that course. About like pouring marbles down a maze made out of PVC pipe - They rattle around bashing into each other until someone manages to have the fewest crashes.
