I thought this video was just the right length, not too long and not to short, and very well edited.

I tried this 'outer circle' journey and was more than a little shocked to see that I had been charged not one, but two penalty fares on my Oyster card. As I started and stopped at the same station I got charged for 2 incomplete journeys. A trip that should have cost me £2.40 ended up costing me over £10. That put a bit of a dampener on what was rather an enjoyable trip.

Taking the Overground does allow you the avoid zone 1. official if you go on the western side, practically if you go on the eastern side because they can't tell if you went through Shoreditch High St

I absolutely love the London Overground. It's the most pleasant and civilised line to use by far. The Underground doesn't come close.

As a young kid in the 80's, me and friends used to 'walk the tracks' between Highbury & Islington and Caledonian Road & Barnsbury. The track they now use for one of the new lines was used for freight.

I love the London Overground and travel on it frequently as Ii will be later today between Forest Hill and Canada Water before descending, as ever to the Jubilee Line. I love the quick walk at Canada Water to the escalator. People approach from our recently departed LO train in two directions and I usually, but only by the 'skin of my teeth' just make it before the main deluge hits the descent.

In the underground you mostly hear high pitched whistles and the brakes of the train and you mostly see a dark tunnel with wires running along it. With the overground you actually get a view outside. (Mostly)

More than two years before I see this video (now) I did something very similar: going from Euston to Queens Road Peckham Overground. Was fun, but a bit dark in the night.

love the idea of this great job viki and geoff one constructive suggestion tho when editing the team video maybe have an ATS (All The Stations) caption with the team that you are currently displaying so it makes it easier to track whos who as you switch between the different teams

wait insted of changing at vauxhall, you can go to clapham high street change for the northern line at clapham north, then change at stockwell for the victoria line and carry on to highbury and islington

I was charged £12 starting from Clapham Junction to Willesden Junction to Gospel Oak to Stratford to Clapham Junction in 2016. WHEN ZONES 1-3 DAILY CAP was £9.80....I spent 20 minutes in Stratford making sure I got right overground to Stratford via New Cross Gate/Crystal Palace....And completed my journey longer than these 2 teams....To be fair = I was only a normal commuter

Interesting that in American English, we say "counter-clockwise" but in British English it's "anti-clockwise." And in the NYC Subway system, there is no circle line. All lines but one travel from an outer borough (Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx) to or through Manhattan. I suppose using the "G" line (the subway that connects Queens and Brooklyn) you could construct a circle route by changing trains several times.

Actually since this video was filmed, you now have to change additionally between Surrey Quays and Dalston Junction, if you go via Canada Water, and again and Highbury and Islington to complete the circle. This is due to a timetable change where all Clapham Junction trains normally now terminate at Dalston Junction, the through trains from Highbury being diverted to West Croydon. It is still possible to travel from Clapham Junction to Highbury and Islington /Canonbury without changing trains, but only via Willesden Junction.

What exactly happened when things went wrong at Highbury and Islington?

I linke the Overground too, cause you could see parts of London normal visitors never see. But I have to admit that the London transport system could be realy confusing for first time visitors with all thees different services. May 20th New Timetable Change, most Clapham Junction Trains revert to Running to Stratford (Or Most Stratford Trains now go to Clapham Junction depending on ones viewpoint). A better Circle would be to acquire/use Southern lines from Crystal Palace and then to Clapham Junction 2tph onto WLL.
