This is my review of the 2022 Beta X-Trainer 300 Motorcycle. This is a 292cc (300cc) 2-Stroke with a weight of 216lbs, seat height of only 35.8 inches, and a crazy low price of $8,000. I will likely buy one of these in the future. I love this dirtbike!

I just put a deposit on a 2024 xtrainer. This was a great review and really reassured my decision. I was initially going to get a 200RR but I wanted the lower seat height and potential for more power in the x. Over the 200.

Thank you for giving this an actual review of real world riding, not a snotty review of keyboard warriors repeating what they've heard and rich guys who race MX or XC. Its the modern KDX! Its the perfect single track bike for guys who just want to ride, not race. Plush suspension and smooth torque allow you to focus on riding and technique, not fighting the bike. I rode a friend of mine's on rocky, root single track and was seriously impressed. I just swapped back to dual sport for awhile, but If i ever want to single track only again Im buying a new one immediately.

Nice review. I have a 2018 300rr, but would consider this version down the road. This bike has always gotten the "expert" riders to claim the suspension is soft & it lacks top end. Probably true to a point, but like you note I think it would work really well for many trail riders over a variety of rocky & typical single track trails.

So many things lol This is my exact bike I decided to start with. Electronics you say are more reliable lol Mine had a bad wire harness from the factory so after waiting 8 months to get my bike it started about 6 times then nothing. Johnny got it straightened out in a week kudos to him but wow. Suspension; well I almost sold the bike I hated it so much but thankfully I talked myself into having AMP put a Lucky cartridge and re valve in. Now it's a totally different machine and I love it. Fuel economy; the most I've got out of a tank was 52mi. One of the reasons I bought the bike was the oil injection but after seeing so many guys have problems with it I deleted it immediately and haven't looked back. Plastics break off if you look at them wrong and don't strap down with the pegs they will bend like a banana hahaha ask me how I know. Man I could go on with the love hate relationship but you get the idea. I'm gonna keep it and ride it but will probably go for and RR next year.
@RacerRed
@RacerRed Жыл бұрын
I’m assuming you thought the suspension was too soft - which I agree with for desert stuff but I didn’t think it was so soft I couldn’t adjust it to feel better. It felt great to me. This bike honestly felt like cheating when taken on hard trails. I took that electronics a bit straight from data. They said they revised the wiring locations, redid the connectors, and made it more reliable. That’s pretty crappy that you had issues with your wiring so fast! I’m glad you have a good dealer support in Emmett though! Johnny is the man. With plastic durability I just think you need to quit cartwheeling lol.

@@davidb9323 I would 100% pick a Beta 300 rr two strokes. The suspension on the xt is too soft for your weight, and you are not short. The 300s are really torquey but smooth on the low rpms, and you can also tune the powervalve easily if you want less hit going up in the rpms. They feel really really light, really hard to stall and have all the power you’ll ever need. Betas are also 3 cm shorter on the seat compared to ktms and huskys! If you want less low end torque, get the 250 but keep in mind you have to be less lazy with the cluch and use gears more.

I own a 2022 Xtrainer, bought new. Less than 1 year old, CDI pin controlling oil injection failed, causing the engine to seize. My local dealer made no mention that this is a known issue and did repairs. After doing research, Beta warranted the work. My local dealer was upset. Probable because he couldn’t charge me full price of repairs. Beta’s are also known for crank bearing failures. Beware!

Great review, and my favorite part is that you didn't call this a 'Play bike' or a girls bike, which it is neither. You'd think that the arrogant, ostentatious, reviewers that use those terms for this bike taught Graham Jarvis and Billy Bolt to ride😂. The wheel base is 1/4'' shorter (lol) than that of the big 4 Japnez builders bikes, and the weight is close to the same.
@RacerRed

Thank you! This bike is definitely a serious bike. I think people just need to ride one. People really don’t need the peak power output that modern 300’s are making and they certainly don’t need the top notch suspension setup for riding trails. People act like they are supercross stars when talking about their suspension but I’m pretty sure they just need to stand up off the seat more. Good suspension won’t ever be good enough for a rider who’s always sitting down.

The only concern I have about this bike is that it is made in Italy. A lot of products from Italy are not known for their reliability. And I've heard of main bearing problems, etc. Is any of this a concern if I get one?
@RacerRed
@RacerRed 9 ай бұрын
I would say there’s a concern with any bike, although main bearing problems were resolved. They had a quality control issue with that in like 2017 but haven’t had too many issues since that I know of. It’s front brake is grabby and so is the clutch. The suspension is a limitation if you go really hard. Those are the negatives i can think of.
@grantbowen5047
@grantbowen5047 Жыл бұрын
I agree with everything except about the suspension. I feel like it is super sketch in slow rocky terrain and in anything 3rd gear and above. We ride super slow tech 90% of the time and on steep downhills I had significant brake dive. Love the bike and maybe the 2022 model suspension is better, hopefully. I just got my fork resprung and revalved by AMP suspension in Montana and I can already feel a great improvement. More to come.

I am not expert or pro but do not like the suspension. It is somewhat better after we went with thicker shock oil. We ride hard enduro and woods with lots of rocks and big hits. The xTrainer is my sons bike. He is still learning a lot and it is ok for him. I am 59 yo and about 170# with gear on. I can and do bottom out the suspension every time I ride the xTrainer. Just jumping on the pegs hard compresses it a lot. (with no rebound adjustment lol) I do like the bike overall and the suspension is the only weakness. It is not a big deal especially if you are a true novice, weigh more and/or are one of the people who will spend another $2K on suspension upgrades just because. (heavier people will have to do some spring work. (It rides like a loaf of white bread compared to my Sherco) If you are going to do suspension work it is a great starting point as your going to replace everything and the bike is $2K to $3k less than other 300 2T.
@RacerRed
@RacerRed Жыл бұрын
I was able to hit the whoops pretty hard with this bike without bottoming and if i wanted to stiffin the fork a bit i could just play with the compression settings. I didn't feel that the suspension was even lacking much at all. I thought the benefit of being able to touch the ground easier was worth losing an inch of travel. I felt a little more like those extremely tall hard enduro riders.
@SamuelGunnestad
@SamuelGunnestad Жыл бұрын
Completely agree with that feedback. I have an older model (2017) and the suspension was outright dangerous for any kind of fast or rocky riding. With the grabby front brake this became even worse. Beta Boano factory suspension and RR exhaust changed it completely and it worked quite well for racing exterme enduro with it's smaller frame and torquey engine
