I gravitated to Shabby Chic as it reflects me personally: I AM shabby chic, with much distressed parts but it all came out beautifully. Imperfect and divine: my approach was soft teal, crisp white and touches of lavender-pink in a French Normandy home by the sea. My Sanctuary Blessed.

I WAS " ShabbyChic " since 1973 when I got my drivers license. I went to garage sales to get things for my bedroom at home. I had very little money from babysitting . I painted hand me down attic furniture too. I repaired broken furniture . Shabby Chic was all I had. I loved making things look pretty. I sewed my own bed coverlets , pillows, shower curtains, slip covers, curtains and took a month long upholstery class. I was slightly bohemian too in my eclectic taste. I should have marketed all the things I redid. Footstools, vintage Wicker, so many things ! I am still casually elegant & shabby chic. I've been fortunate to also be an artist and designer.

Sending love this day to all the great brits out there that have made a difference in the lives of many.
