Caldo, you are speaking my language! One of the my most favorite meals is caldo de res. My mama loved caldo and even on the hottest day of summer, she would make a large pot of it and we truly enjoyed it. Something so comforting in the a good bowl of soup and your recipe is so very like mine. I love the fact that you also add chayote to the caldo as it really has no taste to me but adds something wonderful to the mix. And by the way, your lentil sopa was a huge hit and will now become the recipe I'll use when making lentils. I tell you my sweet amiga, you're adding to my recipe collection in the best way possible and from the bottom of my heart I thank you. Oh Rachel you hit the nail on the head with this recipe, I consider myself to be a fairly good cook and I'm always getting compliments on my food, but Caldo de Res I made only once and I was not to crazy with the result and with watching you make it it has inspired me to try it again your's looks so on spot like the one both my dear sweet Amà and my sister make. I made the caldo on a cold night and it was so delicious 😋 . I've always made caldo but adding the sweet potatoe and greenbeans was so good I had never made it with Chuck roast and it was a big hit cause grandson loves making tacos in corn tortillas with Chile. They loved it . Thank you so much !!! And the next day was so delicious 😋.

At the end when you started eating, I said, " Its almost perfect" but without hesitation you brought out the salsa (like we do) and Bam !! took it over the top. Going to try the sweet potato in my next pot, Thanks for sharing.

Loved this recipe, just mafe some today for my father. My Mom used to put membrillo (quince) it gives the caldo a nice sweet flavor . I will have to try with sweet potatoes.

Love caldo de res, de pollo, any meat. My Mom would make it with ground beef! Such a good flavor! I have never used sweet potatoes, but I will next time. My boys like sweet potatoes! Hi Rachael, first of all i would like to thank you for your wonderful, detailed videos, i too am Hispanic and i was taught how to make most of the dishes you are making but with some differences, i saw your chicken soup video, but i could not remember how my mom made the beef soup, so i am thrilled you are making it here. unfortunately, my mom and i no longer speak, it is not that we are mad at each other but rather all i want to talk about is our Father and biblical things and all she wants to talk about is the world along with their Friday and Saturday night parties, i am sure you know how those go, nobody in my family is speaking to me really, but the bible doe this will happen. i am just so thankful that you are doing these videos so i can freshen up on these amazing recipes i was taught as a young adult. much love to you.

I guess we all make mistakes when we are learning to cook. I remember my first and worst mistake, my Mom had given me her small (about the size of a toaster) deep fryer, so I was going to fry a chicken for dinner, I turned the fryer up as high as it would go, put the chicken in and low and behold it was the most beautiful golden fried chicken in record time, around 15 minutes!!! Well the first bite revealed the truth and that was that fried chicken takes a bit more time than 15 minutes! My hubby and I just laughed, turned the temp down and cooked it until it was actually done.

Love the knives on the wall. Easy to get to when u need them 👍. I sear all meats in stews, Soups, everything
