Sergei has been fighting depression for decades, first they make him believe he can write music, then make him leave his county. His music is often considered dark, but to me it is a remedy for the mind. And the most healing piece of music I have ever heard is his 3rd piano concerto played by Martha Agerich, it helped me a lot in my darkest days.

Superb performance. As other comments said "very surprised to hear this Rachmaninoff piece played so perfectly on the guitar". The molody in the bass was well executed and the resonance is sustained long. Superb control of Melody and accompaniment. Suoerb technique in the 2nd movement, flawless technique while maintaining the legato of the melody and changes in chord. Some surprises in using semi rasquados in some chords, add different character to the performance. Overall, just one word Bravo Superb.

I'm a guitarist who plays a little piano and I've been trying to play this piece (my favorite for the piano since I was a child) for decades. I never thought to translate it to the guitar - it seems much easier to play there rather than struggling with those voicings that are quite close together yet cover a wide range of keys on the piano, not to mention reading the double sharps from the sheet music.

If people are unfamiliar with this piece I would HIGHLY recommend searching up what thinking lead to Rachmaninoff to write this, and then re-listen to this arrangment. Out of all the versions and arrangments of this piece this one does the best job I've ever heard of, really capturing the emotions behind the piece and reflecting them in such a strong, nuanced manner. Good job! ❤

A very close friend of mine, been a musician for forty years, absolutely hates classical music. But he has a stack of albums of various Rachmaninov symphonies. My friend is a heavy metal/hard rock guitarist and vocalist and he always says if classical music had a rock, fringe, composer, it’s Rachmaninov. I’m not sure what he means by that, but then again I find classical music interesting but cannot be confused with a connoisseur. This however was fantastic. But I’m an idiot.

@@snowy686 My music complexity pretty much stops at “what I like” and “what I don’t like”. I actually enjoy Rachmaninov because through by friend, I’ve had more access to it, since the early 80s. So, I don’t get the connection he makes to metal. I’m a huge fan of rock that’s very much on the fringe, because that’s where I am. I’m by no means status quo. Tony, my friend and I connected over similar upbringing and similar tastes in music, movies and literature. I have been wondering how he formed his view of Rachmaninov but, through all these years, I refused to have him break it down for me. I’m afraid of feeling like a bigger idiot than I already lay claim to.

Wow! I used to play this on the piano and so was really impressed to hear it arranged and performed for guitar in a way that sounds as if it was always intended for that instrument. That is fantastic arrangement and voicing.

30 seconds in and already its apparent youre a master of attack and mood. Really great playing, truly puts the listener in the work rather than simply showing the listener you know the work. Well done, subscribed

Hi do you recognise this familiar tune in an obscure death metal band Abramelin song Stargazer (The Summoning) arpeggio at 4:41 6 string classical standard E tuned, starts with one guitar Em D C D, Em D C D G, Em D C D, Em C D, Em D C D, eventually a second and third join in, I forget the specific Spanish flamenco stlye name for the technique but is this an original composition or does anyone recognise the tune because it is feels so familiar?
