The 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom was a watershed moment in the fight for civil rights in the United States. The event brought together hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country to demand an end to segregation, discrimination, and economic injustice.
Sixty years later, the federal government is taking on the call to action of the March on Washington by demonstrating how a racial equity agenda can strengthen our democracy and yield benefits for all. This moment is built upon decades of movement organizing to name, counter, and dismantle systemic racism.
This webinar will highlight the equity-oriented work of federal institutions. Discussants will explain how sustained strategies inside and outside public institutions are creating productive tension and accountability. The webinar will focus on what is possible when federal government leaders commit to identifying and removing systemic barriers, and embracing the charge of advancing racial equity.
