Here I sit drowning in the fear of the Covid 19 pandemic. Outside and on my TV screen images of protest, of violence, of peace, of hope, of a brave new generation play over and over. I lost my 33 year old son, David Silver, in 2007 and have been raising his then 3 year old orphan son ever since. I am 71 now and David's son, Aaron is almost 16. It's been years since I allowed myself to listen to these heart-wrenching songs Bruce tore from his soul. I am old enough now to actually KNOW I am mortal and my time will be coming. As much as I long to see David on the other side, I long even more to have every single second I may be granted by God to love and comfort my son's son, Aaron. Even though it is not in my power to decide when I will have to go, I can't keep the tears from filling my eyes whenever I look at Aaron, knowing I can't be here for him forever like he thinks I will be. There is only one Bruce and the emotion I know he tears from the depths of my soul actually scares me. That is why I stopped listening to these incomparable pieces of musical genius several years ago. I can't believe some of the comments on this thread are from a mere week ago. We all will pass on, like poor George Floyd, but even when Bruce's time comes, NOBODY and NOTHING will ever erase the sweet power of his genius.

1973 This song takes me back to a Saturday night in a small town in the Midwest. My hometown. Hot and humid, after dark on the north side of town between the railroad tracks and the cemetery a mile north of town. John Haley with his 302 69 Camaro and Ronald Bakko and his 66 Chevelle SS396. They raced several times, the sound of those 2 cars in the distance... I listen to Bruce do this song and I'm right there again. Even met "the girl" that evening, Roxanne with her beautiful long red hair. True to the song, I drove that girl away. I was 17 then, 63 now, life has been good, Bruce's music just gets better with age!

I can't help but feel grateful for the timeless masterpiece that is Bruce Springsteen's "Racing in the Streets." This song, with its haunting melody and poignant lyrics, has touched the hearts of generations of music lovers. The way Springsteen captures the longing for a life beyond the mundane, the desire for escape and the hope for something better is truly remarkable. His ability to weave together themes of love, loss, and the human spirit is a testament to his artistic brilliance. I am grateful for the countless hours of joy that "Racing in the Streets" has brought me and for the way it has touched the lives of so many. This Thanksgiving, Thank you, Bruce Springsteen and his enduring legacy of music that continues to inspire and uplift us all. The jamming part with piano and rock music is awesome. This performance simply blows my mind. The song is obviously legendary and one of the most powerful of Springsteen gems. The performance is so intense, it bends gravity. The band starts off cool - almost restrained - and then, the pressure builds up towards the end like a boiler on the brink of explosion. Springsteens voice is gritty like a bag of rusty nails. Your eardrums are scratched and your heart pierced. The band roars underneath the surface like a wild animal dying to be let loose. One of my all time favourite performances.

Bruce's music is what makes the world worth living in. He cuts through all the waste, and gives us what we need. Each person hears his music in their own way, abd what they hear is life changing. There's three things that change a person for the better, falling in true never ending love, finding God of your beliefs, and hearing the music of Bruce Springsteen. Im glad to live in an era with Bruce Springsteen alive. It is truly a bright light in an otherwise dim world.
