We've always wanted a 1/5th scale RC and we finally get our hands on one! We picked up this Duratrax Firehammer off of Craigslist. It has a 2-stroke gasoline engine, our first as well! Stay tuned to see what we do with it.

Keep it. I sold my Baja but kept this one. It's more unique. Bought it back in the day when they were still being made. I upgraded bits of mine; 26cc motor, HPI Baja hubs and rims/tires, alloy motor mounts, alloy UCA's on the back, limited slip diff, FG 2-speed transmission, and a DX2E radio w/ a Sky gyro. Watch out for the tank, it tends to leak at the seams and like you said, most parts are NLA. I'm looking for another as the sealant I used on mine is starting to shrink. I still have fun with it, though. It's held up well for gravel-bashing where I live. I highly recommend one for "fun" as a secondary large-scale RC.

Hey if you still need a gas tank i have one. I have basically a whole chassis minus the chassis. I have everything and the car itself. The problem i have is somebody drove my rc without oil in the gas! The problem is i tried to put a zenoah 26cc on it and low and behold it all works until you start it.... i have the fastest backwards driving 5th scale ever! The engine rotation is reversed on the z motor and chun yang spins opposite. So anyone have a new cyl. Head by chance?

do these only use those specific tires or can you do a tire swap with different tires that are the same size

Tires can be swapped as long as they're the same inner diameter or even a bit smaller. Wheels on these use a square mounting (versus a hex) so if you're trying to use wheels and tires from an HPI Baja or Losi 5th scale, you'll need to convert to wheel hexes too.

Thanks for watching and commenting! Since it's two stroke, you need to run pre-mix to lubricate the engine properly.

We ended up selling ours. There's some parts interchange with FG 1/5th scale vehicles, so you may want to do some research on this.

www.bigboystoysandhobbies.com/duratrax_ 40 to 50 dollars per gallon, maybe in Beverly Hills. You can use rc airplane fuel no problem 5 and 10 percent for less than 20 dollars per gallon. www.davesmotors.com/Products/Formula-1_3/ Parts are available
